Default O.S. Super Air Cleaner 102 HELP!

I just got an OS 12 CV-X and noticed that the Air cleaner that comes with it (102) is kinda cheesy. The hole in the air filter is smaller than the carb barrell...

Will there be a performance difference between this ( 2 disc elements and hole smaller than the carb)

Or a donut element style "pod" filter?
