The THS is a dual chamber design and I paid $70 for it. The 2080 was $170 at all of the places I checked, but I'll admit I did not search eBay for it.

Check your clutchbell. Make sure not touching clutch shoe

Check low needle settings and idle circuit

It is just me, or is the 21-XZ-R really tight when new? I'm running a brand new Ofna 1/8th box with a new battery and my box is not able to spin the motor unless I really heat it up well (about 180 degrees) with a heat gun, even if I remove the plug.

I already put a serious amount of wear into my new starter wheel. I've never seen a new motor this tight.

You need to heat it up to about 100Degrees celsius and start the engine with your starter box. Make sure it is at BDC before you hit it on your starter box.
If that doesnt work, you need a more powerful starter box. Im using Mugen starter box, it has dual motors. No problem starting the engine for the 1st time.

I have done the pre-brake in on the engine stand using the airplane starter to crank the propeller and in fact I had the same experience.

The engine was so tight that my big airplane starter was melting the coupling rubber flange.

You really have to heat up the engine nicely and crank it up while in BDC as said and make sure the mixture is rich so the excess of lubrication can help a little bit (and most importantly to avoid first turn scratches)

My engine even had a high pitch metallic sound during the first minutes run and I thought something was going wrong but gone after a while.

I have run 19 liters of 25% nitro on it without a single problem.

Dont suggest to buy this engine as it will launch a newer version after ifmar race in japan in mid oct unless you really need one to run
