I do not have one, I worked on 2 on the track, no papers seen....

Ran my Murnan picco this weekend at our club race, Had soom great drivers there.
Ted hammer
Terry Rott
Rick Davis
Lon burling.
I qualified 2nd and took the win in the Main after a great battle with Ted Hammer.
First weekend on the motor, need to dial it in a little more but it was running great.

Ralph I have worked on 5 engines 4 for customers to break in 1 for myself
Each engine came measured .45 to .5 measured with calipers we all know when measuring with calipers each time u measure it will not give u the same reading
I add a .1 to get it close to 6 for breakin and leave it in
I run 1,500cc thru it before it hit's the track
When I'm in a rush I run 800 cc but felt afterwards it still was not fully broken in they were all torque edo modified using kosmic 25p and also used 16p with the same shimming
I believe what u have is the torque std modified by murnan
You can also call me if needed if u don't have my number lmk I will send it to u
I have also tested different pipe header combo's

Questions were asked before about this issue. Check post #166,#168,#172.
I posted what the exploded view paperwork says, but I did not measure the actual clearance.(Torque EDO MOD .21) Thanks for all the new info guys.

Guys, can you go too low with the head clearance? Is 0.4mm better then 0.5 and what is happening when you go too low? I know, without any clearance, the piston will probably hit the combustion chamber...
#246
A smaller clearance with the same nitro content will give more bottom torque but could blow plugs and give a pre-detonation (the piston and chamber will look like it is sandblasted). If you are on to it you will loose top rpm.
0.4 for itself must be possible because you have to take out 0.1mm when running om 10 to 16% nitro.

Ralph, I was told by Alberto a month ago that engines come with .4mm-.5mm shims. Total head clearance may vary from engine to engine but close. Not sure why manual says .3mm, but I will ask tomorrow.
I would reccommend putting .6 shims for break/run in. I heard Uriah modified your motor?

When I measure actual head clearance with solder, I get the following.
.3mm of shims = .48mm actual clearance
.4mm of shims = .58mm actual clearance
.5mm of shims = .68mm actual clearance
I think the engines run fine with around .58 mm of actual clearance. That is around .023 inches. That is about .4mm of shims. Each engine is slightly different, but that will get you in the ballpark.
You can run the engine with lower clearance, but it is easier to blow plugs. I ran a clearance of .026 inches in Miami with great results. I tried to run the clearance lower than that, and the plugs were not happy there. Partly due to the altitude being at sea level. When I tested at home I could run lower, and the plugs were still happy. At home elevation is 1000 ft above sea level.
To be safe, it is a good idea to add .2mm of shims to the engine for break in, and initial tuning. Then start dropping the head .1mm at a time if you feel the need for more bottom end grunt.

Uriah,
you said you were blowing plugs with that very low head clearance. Did they drop their elements, or just stopped to glow?
Thanks, Stefan

there is a torque standard, and modded version?

In testing the engines limits, I detonated the top of the piston/button. The sides of the piston still looked perfect. The same engine is still running extremely strong 4 gallons later. The engines are very durable.

Hi, does anyone knows whether os turbo glow plugs could be
used on the .21 picco torque edo modified engine?
Thanks in advance..

They probably would work but I wouldn't advise it. OS taper seems to be just a bit different from everything else. Some motors they will leak, some they wont. Picco plugs are excellent, stick with them if you can. Also LM plugs (Sirio, Werks, Orion, etc.) work great.
