Default help with choosing a good engine ?

i am new to the r/c world and need some advice on which motor i should purchase
i am currently building an hpi r40
any info would really help

for me i will go for os speed 12xz spec 2..fast and eassy to find the part..

It will depend on where you are racing (if you will race), how much you want to spend and what parts your hobby shop carry.

If you are on a budget,

Take a look at the RB TJ10 (junior), Novarossi TS1 or OS XZ (stock)

If not, you can probably use a Novarossi Flash, Novarossi 353, RB T10 or Max XXL3.

That is assuming that you need a SG shaft engine.

See what people are using at the track you want to race at - more than likely they use Novarossi, but people have their own preferences.
Top level .12 engines:
Novarossi Flash/353 Tuned versions
RB T9/10 RC versions
RB M3 (from murnanmodified.com)
Max XXL3 Modified
Picco JLR Evo3 (or the Evo4 if the specs are the same, just better made this time around!!)

Anything else will do, but those are basically some of the top engines currently available. I think even the Capricorn engine is insane as well!!
