CMB Engines

I discovered these engines just yesterday on the internet, but have never seen them on the track. Anyone have any thoughts on the CMB engines for onroad?

Here's the info:

Reidrc is the us distributer

taken from http://www.reidrc.com/

Engines produced by CMB currently hold almost all World Championship, Speed Records as well as multiple National US titles in R/C Marine Racing.CMB has become the dominating force and preferred engine choice of r/c marine racers today. This Experience has been applied to our EVO2 Series of R/C Car Engines.
They are available only in .21 offroad and onroad, and appears that they updated recently the carb to be more Novarossi style.

The Sleeve is a 'long tapered' something I have never heard of before. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

This is also taken from the above website.

Long Taper Sleeve Design uses a lower Taper Angle Sleeve and a Piston with two separate Taper Angles distributed between the Piston Crown and a Point just below the Wrist Pin Area. This Assembly will feel almost no Tightness when not at operating Temperature. The Premise of this Design is, that the Piston will fit to the Liner rather than the Liner having to expand to fit to the Piston. And since the Piston is the Part which expands the fastest of all Components involved, by having the Material and the Design proper Fit can be achieved over a wider Temperature Range.

Call or email Lee from Winner's Circle about these engines.
He sells these engines, so maybe he could have some helpful info for you.

I know CMB used to make boat engines back in the day ,but haven't really heard to much about them in the United States.

I have found another distributor of the CMB Engine

Ashford Hobbies

I found this information also under the engine page, it provides some added info.

You can also contact Chris Hammond at Chris Hammond

Yeah I know where to get it guys, I even spoke to Robert at Ashford about the motor, however not enough people are speaking up about their experiences with the motors. I'm just trying to decide if this is a worthwhile motor or not. I just haven't seen anyone out here using them.

tomkelly,
You should really give Chris an email. He is sponsoring two local guys here in Edmonton, both who have been past ROAR on-road champions here in Canada. I believe one fellow is running the CMB line and the other fellow is running the Mac line of motors. Craig Miller, the Mac user, told me this past Sunday that the motor he is running in his 1/8 buggy is the most powerful motor he has ever seen. Anyhow, drop Chris a note and I'm sure he would be happy to chat with you. I am the acting President for our onroad club, www.edmontonrc.com , and Chris is the V.P.
