bit of info from the website for you

"The Sure-Start uses a high intensity light bulb mounted in a stainless steel casing with a small fan mounted in the top to direct the bulb heat down over the engine heat sink. This heat then transfers throughout the rest of the engine even warming right through to the chassis plate. It works incredibly efficiently and out performs all its competitors making it the quickest most versatile method of pre-heating an RC engine on the market today. It works so well it has already become a must have tool for many racers around the world.

Sure-start is incredibly efficient at pre-heating an engine (as an example it takes only five minutes to pre-heat an engine from 72F to 150F). Even when temps drop to 44F (6c) it will only take an extra four minutes to reach the critical 150F before starting, It can get your engine to 200F no problem if higher temps are required"

With the cold weather now hitting the Uk ive managed to do another video of the Sure-Start working in only 8c conditions!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=451Fn59qvNg

Out of interest here’s another vid of a competitors product. performed in roughly the same ambient temperature so a good comparison on performance.

Well thought I would refresh this thread for 2011 with some more exciting news from RC Sure-Start, we had a great year in 2010 with the launch of the Sure-Start 1/8th pre-heater which has been very well received for its ease of use and amazing performance not to mention great value!

For those which haven’t yet seen our pre-heater (where have you been hiding?) it uses a high intensity light bulb mounted in a stainless steel casing with a small fan mounted in the top to direct the bulb heat down over the engine heat sink. This heat then transfers throughout the rest of the engine even warming right through to the chassis plate.

We currently offer two version of the Sure-Start a basic (Standard model) and a Deluxe version which has the same features if the Standard but is fitted with a thermostat so when it reaches 180 – 200 F it turns off until the temp drops 5 degrees then switches back on again. This mean you can leave the unit for as long as you like knowing when you return your engine is going to be sat right at the optimum starting temperature and your battery source is still going to have some life left in it!

Talking of battery sources the Sure-Start works from any 12v power supply or 11.1v lipo battery, our heater is fully 12v compatible and works from a voltage range of 10v to 15v there is no need to discharge batteries before use like other products on the market this is plug and go!

One of the ideas which make Sure-Start so versatile are the lower casing options. All the electronics on the unit are located in the cap which unscrews from the lower casing which means different casing can be added to the unit making it suitable for different applications. At the moment we offer two casing sizes for .21 1/8th offroad engines and a new onroad casing for .12 to and .21 engines meaning one unit can do everything you just need the correct size lower casing! We also have plans later in the year to expand the casing options to include aircraft also!

Lower casing can be purchased separately so if you decided to take up a different class in the future there is no need to purchase a separate unit just buy the additional lower casing and off you go simple.

The Sure-Start is very reliable so much so that we offer a six month warrantee with each unit which includes the bulb. Also it’s a serviceable item meaning it can be repaired by returning it to us or doing the work yourself as we now offer spares for sale on our website in the unlikely event of any problems outside of warrantee.

Also new for 2011 is the option to fully customize the colours of your Sure-Start so it matches you car colour scheme. All units are finished in a very durable powdercoat and we now offer the option to choice up to three different colours for each unit. Choose a cap colour, middle casing colour and a lower casing colour, with over 30 different colours to choice from that’s over 1000 different paint combinations

The Sure-Start hasn’t been around long but already we have an impressive team of drivers using and promoting the product in the UK and at international level.

Some of our off-road team include Durango drivers Ryan Lutz, Hupo Hönigl, Elliott Boots, Kevin Brunsden. UK National Champion and European finalist Darren Bloomfield. European finalist and Tamiya driver Lee Martin and 3x Nordic champion Micke Palsson and Raphael Robert form Belgium and this is just our offroad team!! Onroad drivers include team Serpent driver Mark Green, Peter Hastings, Neil Diver, plus Joe Kerry and Mark Christopher and Phil Pullen on the 1/10th onroad team.

Any way sorry about the large post thanks for reading it all, more info can be found on our website www.rcsurestart.com

This is a very interesting tool . Because the engine will be heat up much more consistent . With a hair dryer isnīt so equal .

I think to get one . Are those available for 1/8 track engines?

Hello Blessed,

For TC cars the new onroad casing will be available end of next week, this will fit any 1/8th onroad or 1/10th onroad engine. Once I have them from the metal spinners I will post up some pictures of it.

At the moment I do a 1/8th onroad casing but this new one will supersede this and be ideal for 1/10th also

Thanks

John

It draws 3.7 amps on one heating element and 7 amps on two for quick heating

The new onroad casing is almost ready, heres a couple of pics of the first unit. These will fit all onroad engines 1/10th and 1/8th.

The inside diameter of the casing is 52mm.

These will be available for purchase 1st week in February.
