Wasp 12 Help Needed - Carb Settings
Guys
I picked up a Wasp 12 in an Ebay deal - the car and radio
were perfectly represented, so I belive the motor is fine,
I just can't get it to run and settle down.
The motor is in perfect condition, the black body and silver
head with no damage. It starts but won't run, when I open
the main, it will run and slobber/spit fuel but won't idle down.
It's a screamer and sounds pretty strong, but is a real pain, so I've pulled it and replaced with my trusy OS
Are the wasps known for carb problems, or leakers?
What is the factory starting settings on the needles?
Any advice
I've been around motors for 30 years and have many
2 strokes in cars and planes, but this little rascal is stumping me.

Picco .12 - .15 (General Carburetor Settings: slide and rotary)
New Carb -
4.5 turns out on the high speed needle
2 turns out on the low speed needle. (adjust while carb is wide open)

Wasp 12 Help Needed - Carb Settings
Ducati-Rider;
Several things come to mind.
1) If the Engine is spitting fuel from the carb, most likely the Piston and sleeve have lost their seal.
2) All of the Picco's that I've owned, did not like to run below the 240F mark. They would hiss and spit as if to complain. Above 240 they ran great.
3) Could be a glow plug issue. What plug are you using and have you tried a different one? MC59's work good in this Motor with 30% Nitro and below.
4) ALL of my Picco's have had the Carbs changed to Novarossi slide carbs. I was never happy with the tuning and performance of the stock Picco carbs. The Rossi carbs also have cleaner airflow and you will see a performance increase from using one.
Hope this helps some,

Which carb
Hey Popsracer
which carb and what is a good source to buy the carb.
I'm willing to invest in the solution - who has what I need?
thanks
