Picco .12 evo 3 temperature
My previous evo 3 had a temp of 125c, THE new one i am breaking in is also running these temps. THE Guy who sold me THE engines and local runners told me it should be around 105c or max 120c. I just don't get it running at those temps since it just to rich. I'm using medium picco plugs with 2607 exhaust. Anybody know anything aBout THE temps it should be running?

Extra info: temp is measured at THE plug.
And sorry for THE caps on THE word 'the' but my iPhone runs it's own life

Dont worry about that so much, temp should be last thing you should worry about.
Check if the plug is like wet, smoke is coming out of the pipe, and the performance is good.
I dont have a temp gun indeed.

I would say that 125 is still a pretty safe temperature. But if the engine is 125 after a 5 minutes qual run, you should make it a bit richer for the finals, because you will run over 140 after 10-15 mins in the final. I am usually targeting the temp between 110 and 120, it will still run good with 100-110, but in a while your plug and head of the piston will become black

130 recorded last 2 weeks. no problem, just slightly brown residues on piston top. and it ran good yesterday

I assume you are running this thing in a TC. If you want to bring the temps down and haven't done this all ready, cut some or even all of the left window out. Can bring temps down 10 degrees.

left windows? if track is in clockwise direction, should be right windows instead?

Yeah, the holes etc are all present.
It's just that I was advised to keep it under 110c, which at this moment is not possible because otherwise it will be just to rich. Leaning it out the temp goes up to the 120/130c range. I'm still pretty much a beginner, and the guys advising me won several championships for years in a row, so (I guess) they do not talk poop.
But because i'm not able to run alot in the weekends, and are mostly running on the circuit on my own during the week, I didn't know how bad it would be if temps were up. I must say the weather overhere is now also 10c hotter than is normal for these areas.

I have a had about 4 or five piccos to date including the edo tune .12 and have found that they lean themselves out over a race but when the engine was running at its best I would be around the 110c mark with a TH picco plug, if my bottom was to lean then temps would really skyrocket. also I cut out all of my rear window and both front window with a legal size hole at the front about 60mm.

even if you're in a hot and humid country?
air temps of about 35C and 80-90% humidity usually.

Thanks Guys, this gives me confidence setting up my engine by myself. Today i leaned it out à little bit, temp reaching 130c. It ran great, much better rpm than running richer and 110c. It also felt right in response.

yeah, rich bottom end is the main tuning point for picco engines. without touching HSN, i get it constantly 110-122 max lately thats 8'C cooler than my previous max temp.

I don't know where this idea of running the bottom end rich got started, but I find it a bit humorous. It needs to be tuned correctly. Obviously there is a window where the engine will run but perform differently, but if it is rich then it needs to be leaned out until it is properly tuned.
When you guys say the bottom end needs to be rich, how long will your engine idle? Assume the engine is at operating temp etc.... If your engine loads up and dies relatively quickly, then it is too rich. If it doesn't load and die quickly then it isn't rich, its tuned properly.
They way you guys put it, you need to mistune the bottom end for it to be tuned correctly, which is a contradiction.
