Its not the same engine although Sirio does manufacture the engine. While I didn't compare the internals I did ask about our team manager about using the same conrod. He said he spoke to Adrien via email as was told that they don't use the same rod. Maybe thats a load of BS but that is what I was told. I do have an Orion rod coming and can compare them myself to see.

I can also tell you that the needle settings between the two carbs are very different. The high speed needle in the Orion carb is buried much deeper into the housing than with any of my sirio engines.

So Sirio manufacture the ABI engine range?, I thought I read somewhere that they were manufactured by Picco :weird:. I'd be much happier knowing they are manufactured by Sirio , The ABI has just made my Next engine wish list

ok...thing is that i am totally lost with the needles right now..really need to find a setting for the carb so that i can start all over again...

The Orion CRF engine line is made by Picco. The Alpha ABI line is manufactured by Sirio.

Neither. You are thinking about the old CRF line made by Toki.

Slo-MTX4 08-25-2009 06:54 PM

So which is faster the alpha or CRF?

I believe that the X312T is the same as the CRF, but I am not sure of that.

I haven't run the CRF, but I can tell you the Alpha is quite fast. It got me to a 3rd place qual and finish at the Gyro race recently at Crystal Park.
