Yesterday we were able to test SpectraTach software to check RPMs on the end of straightway and seems like working really good. Very interesting numbers pop up. We were able to check 5-port and 3 port engines, as well as 21 size.
Because testing is not finisgh yet, so I really don't want to give any info in numbers, but dfenetly can tell you the most speed of the car doesn't come out on highest RPM. To be more clear, wabt to say, we didn't use speed radar gun, but on the feeling of the drivers (our friends) and numbers from screen, we found there needs to be pretty clear ballance between speed and RPM. I was analizing last night numbers from track with numbers from Dyno test and came to conclusion, last 1/3 of powerband is most important for engine behavior on the track. Just for instance, when we hit the throtel right of the corner, most of 12 engine almost instantly goes to 31 K, then there is hole and engine pick up highest RPM after second speed turn in.
I hopw we will be able to see RPMs on the Nationals in Texas, but as everybody understand, that software is sound analizer and if there is 2 cars goes together too close-it is really dificult to record RPMs, so they need to be apart at list 30 feet. There is posabbilities to change sensativity and possible to have softwrae pick up only on very short-distance, but this is what I have to check next time.
Any way-it is really great tool and ones we figure out all small points, I am sure it will be helpfull to tune engine/transmission right.

Hi Ed, I have a question here regarding your BRB that Chris sent me (I believe it is 3rd gen, team edt).

What is the max racing temp for this on Max S3? and what is the max temp before it overcooked? Please assume the figure of using exergen gun. I'm using 25% tornado if it makes any different in reading. Humidity level is now about 80-90% with 30C temperature. Thx

Hi Pyromid.
I have never seen any of BRB overcoocked-regrdless how high in temp it went (ones in Las Vegas it was running entire main at 300-350) it still blasting engine.
The best running temp is between 220-240 F, but if you run engine and it showes 280 and performance is good, it means this is what running temp for this engine.
We teste every single new design at 320-350 for 4 tanks in row before we release to public.

Pyramid, I am sure the Plug will go way before BRB overcooked. I had one guy ( yes boy2rc!!!) measured 190C when he had to picked up his car which got stuck on the tires.... After I inspect and lapped his engine, he said the performace was even better than before.
Temp I suggest 110 to 130 range.

Dieter you shouldn't be here. If the DMC gets wind of it, BRB will be on the black list faster than you can say "cat in the hat"
