Nova Mega SX-21 7P-EV5
 

Hi all, I picked up a serpent 950R and it came with a Nova Mega SX-21 7P-EV5 which is in good condition. Does any one have the manual or a exploded diagram or something with part numbers for this motor on it. Also what plug would you recomend with 20% nitro??

Any infomation would be very helpful :D

The engine is based on the Novarossi RX21 models.

You can use:
- a R5 or R7 rod
- the standard 14x25.4 bearing
- any longstroke onroad P/S set
- any NR carburator (or any other brand with the same size shaft)
- NR turbo glowplugs (or other brands)

Yes, all but the bearing, that one is 25.8mm and your engine has 25.4mm

I was looking which rod it uses, I found #07006:

My advise: use the R7 rod.

Maybe the latest RX21 models then I think.
I still have in my "old engine corner" both a crank case for the RX21 (Novarossi Speed I think it was) and the SX21 EVO5, and I can asure you they are not the same....
Porting in both crank cases are totally different...
The SX21 EVO5 is exactly the same as the MAX MF 21...

I have a novamega evo4 ms, does anyone know which novarossi piston/ sleeve would be the same for that motor...

how about novarossi 08513 from the wc series?:confused:

I know the r7 conrod replaces the original one.

If it's not much trouble, does anyone have a sleeve from the novarossi rx21wc (part # 08513 )that they can take a couple of measurements for me???

Porting is just a small issue and is no problem to fit another p/s set, timing makes it all. I know with all sets the intake has the same size and there are only differences in exhaust heights, even when using the same model from different series.
If you want a cheap rebuild of an old engine you can even fit a P/S set from a N21-3T of even from a GRP onroad engine (only the piston pin makes it less easy)

I will get them for you tomorrow, I have the RX21 and the mario rossi tuned one, the porting looks a tad diff on the two. How do you guys find these RX motors, I installed my one two days ago and running it in two weeks? I have 359 and 35 + 21 engines.

Like Roelof said, the other Nova sleeves aren't the same but they will fit and work. I've been known to put old RB C4 and C5 P/S in my old R1's. All the crankcases were basically the same with only very minor and often just cosmetic differences.

James over at Fusion motorsports was very helpful to me about older NR pistons and sleeves. Has anyone found any good info (like sleeve dimensions)on the older engines? I know the hobby tends to sway people away from fixing old motors, and to just buy new (to spur consumerism?) but I like to use my old motors and my son is getting into the hobby as well. Far as I know, the #08513 P/S fits many of the early 35 engines (circa 99/00). If no one has found a good list of info on these older engines, I could tear some of mine down and take measurments.

Does anyone know who is making Mega engines for Serpent? Are they novarossi mills or picco? Or am I way out in left field? These days they ALL look exactly the same lol
