break in bench
What is better to break in a motor,a break in bench or in the car?

if your doing high volume and need less hassle then a breakin bench, in the car is much better and quicker though.

The bench is alot easyer. And I can run it anytime I want.

I use the bench. I heat the engine with a heat gun to 220deg, fire it up and run it a 1/4 to 1/2 throttle for a full 1/2 gallon with out stopping at 220deg (i made a custom 1/2 gallon fuel cell). This establishes a perfect piston sleeve match. Then I put it in the car and start to lean it out and run it. I have never had engines "come to life" as much as they do with other methods compared to this method.

The run-in methode can not say how the engine will be. Most populair methodes are based on the same principle: rich and full throttle. Because the tolerances no engine is the same and results the same with the same run-in methode.
Just use what you think is the best and you will be satisfied.

I just read this and it sounds dangerous haha, but is it okay for the piston/sleeve/conrod/wristpin?
I read L. Collari uses this method..........but ya' know...engines to these top drivers are a penny a bag.

i did 1/4 of a gallon on a breakin bench, 3 tanks on track, with 1/5-1/4 turn down on HSN each tank
