sam, why are you running JP/max instead of jl now?
As a shop, We have to run/test all engines, (we run what we sell) so I can give feedbacks to customers.

between the jp first line pl3 and the max xxl3 is there a big enough diffence in power to warrant the price of the xxl3. I race at 301 raceway so alot of horsepower is always a big plus. Also how do these engines compare to the nova 353 tuned in the power department lowend, midrange, and top end.

The XXL3 is no doubt a very fast engine, it have power everywhere, the JP
P3L Modified in the hands of a good driver can give you a run for your money, it has good bottom punch and the mid range is on the mild side but have good top end, the 353 Tuned falls in between the 2.

hi guys,
just got my XXL3 yesterday and i did the break in today.....First XXL3 to hit the track here in Kuwait.
i have a small question, i run 30% nitro fuel, shall i keep the shimming as from the factory? if not, how much should i add to run it safely with the 30% nitro, i did the break in without changing a thing....

cheers

Ali

The shimming of the head from the factory is set for 16% nitro, so to run 30% you need to shim it at a minimum of .55mm, we shim ours at .60mm which runs really good.

Hi Team Kamikaze,

thanks alot for the info, i shimmied mine at .61, ran it today for the first time with a nova 2630 pipe and OS P8(cold) plug, today was our first point race in the season and i got second place after a huge strugle with body/wing during the final.....the engine is great and has massive power down the straight and all around the track....my temp was around 230F.... i shaved a whole second from my best lap time by switching to the XXL3 knowing that the track condition wasen't as good as last time.....

thanks MaXPower for such a great engine, thanks team kamikaze for the info

cheers

Hi Ali,
I'm glad that I could help, the only thing I advise is, not to use an OS plug on your MAX motor, the taper is different from a Nova Rossi plug, it will leak and cause your engine to run lean.

hello again,

i ran an oddoneil medium plug at first and the temp rised to 260, thats why i switched to the cold OS plug, what plug do you reccomend normally on a MaxPower engine??
also i noticed that the temp is very sensitive to any small high end needle tune, are all nova based engine like this?? alsxo, do you think the nova 2630 is THE pipe to use withe XXL3 or shall i switch to the Max pipe? and which one?

thanks again

Ali

The Max pipe 2602 is the best matching pipe for your engine, and regarding the glow plug to use, I would recomend Nova Rossi 6TGF or the Ninja no.6 cold.
