3-5 liters would be .79 - 1.3 gallons.
I ran one tank through it on the starter box, then two more on the track on a rich setting, then a 30 minute main.
I should probably replace the rod before my next race, then replace about once every two gallons (which would be about 7.5 liters).

How fast after breaking in is depending upon demand and type of racer.

I agree with Sam. Break-in process is where the rod suffers the most. Picco based or Nova based, the rod will still suffer. Can a picco rod withstand break-in process and a few gallons? Yes it can. But what rule of thumb will you use? Usually, be NR or Picco, I will always change a rod after a few driving meets. I prefer "wasting" $30 after say 4-5 races rather than $200-$400 after 7-8.

ahh Kfactory wasnt real sure it came as an extra peice when i bought the car used it had some other 3 racing stuff on it i just assumed but regardless it happened and i just thought ide throw that pic up i thought it was pretty funny. beware the parts you buy these motors are raw power it would have really sucked if it had blown during a race.
