this may seem trivial, but it has become really frustrating, i would really appreciate if anyone has developed a scheme for replacing the o-ring on the main ( high speed) needle.

so far i have either torn or split 4 trying to put a fresh o-ring on a high speed needle. specifically this happens to be a RB C5 main needle using the 1270 rubber part.

putting it on the long way over the threads seems to chew up the inside portion, while taking over the screw head breaks it. my next step is to soften the edges on the screw head, my suspicion is the sharp edge is cutting the rubber?

Before you install the O-Ring lube it with any type of oil that should help you out

i had tried a light oil and grease but the ring breaks.

Try soaking the o-ring in boiling water for 1 minute, it will make the rubber o-ring more elastic which will stretch over the needle when installing also coat the threads with grease. "CAUTION IT'S HOT" try not to burn yourself .
