well my new SL3 blew up on sat, still not sure why, it had one race under its belt so it was fully broken in, got 5 laps in brought it in to see why the car wasn't shifting into 2nd, stoped the engine re-adjusted the 2-speed, started her back up, gave it a few blips of throtle on the starter box and bang, my question is this, is it worth it to get a new piston and sleeve, or should i just get another engine, and do you need to change the con-rod on the engine after break in? oh yea the engine was temping at 130 when i brought it in after 5 laps.

Before you decide make certain all you need is a piston and sleeve. Shrapnel sometimes gets into the bearings and ruins them as well.

Check those bearings, I have the serpent branded version and have found the piston/sleeve set to be more durable than the bearings. As for a pipe set go with the nova 2630 with either the short or long manifold depending on the circuit. Use the Skyline VR12 + if you need to boost fuel millage at the expense of a bit of power.

I've tried both the 2602 and the 2630. IMO from actual lap times, the 2602 is by far the best pipe for the SL3.

The Max SL3 Piston/sleeve/Rod cost more than US$200.00.

Contact Korgae @ can west rc, 888-463-3678. You want p/n MX08656MF; it should be around $200 us.

You can also use the piston sleeve set for Novarossi LS3(same set but w/o the added tear drops) or Novarossi NS123 (billit version w/o tear drops)
