Uriah,
I have one of your 35plus21 engines. It cuts off at the end of the straight. using #7 plug, 20% Byron's fuel, engine temp between 240 and 260. Do you know what the problem is? I race at 301 in MD. Any help will be appreciated.

RcDoctor, check your two speed.... i had the same problem this past weekend, then i checked my two speed and it was shifting too early which caused the motor to wind out too much. try tightening down the two speed a little.

When an engine cuts at revs its because the head is too low. As the revs in the crank increase so does the pressure in the head and advances the timing. If its already too advanced it stops it dead.

Add 0.2 head shim will cure it

So what did you use for the 1/8 finals. How did the mod 359 go? I am thinking getting either 359 or Xenon R.

I may also try the 3 needle carberetor that comes with the NS21P on the 359. Oh, and of course there will be the modified 35+21's

For sedan I will be testing the modified RB Matrix, and the Novarossi 353 modified. My team will be testing the stock practice engine that comes with the 353, the modified Picco Drake, modified Ninja .12's, mod +12's. The Ninja T01 modified is a good engine. Gobs of top speed. We will be playing around with dropping the head on the Ninja .12 at the classic to see if more torque can be found.

It should be a fun, and busy week! Only 3 more days to go.

Very cool project. Let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. Has the car shifted into second gear yet? I wonder how you can control all of the engines rpm, and shiftpoints exactly? What happens if one shifts, and the others do not? Just wondering. I imaging special gears would have to be made to hit 150mph. Keep up the good work. Please keep us posted here too. I wonder if anyone has ever tried a twin engine on road car, let alone a 3 engine.

Hi. unfortunately I did not make it to the final in 1/8th. I qualified in the B main in the 8th scale, I finished 14 overall in 8th scale. I tested the RB XenonR, and the 359. Both modified versions. My friend Frank Sossebee blew his engine, so I let him test the 359 for his main, so I ran the XenonR. The XenonR was very fast all week, as well as the 359. I had a bad crash with the XenonR the night before the mains, so my car was no good, but the engine was great! The modified 359 ran very consistently all week. The modified 359 has more torque than the stock version with very good top speed. I am very happy with the modified 359. We also tested the modified NS21P that comes with the 359. The engine was suprisingly powerfull. Jamie Corrado was on an A main pace with the engine when something happened, and he did not make it. The engine is extremely torquey, and lacks the top speed of the more exotic engines. It is a very good club practice engine. The modified 359 gave Frank Sosebee the fastest laptimes of the week. He was using the modified 35+21. Maybe we can hear about the feeling of the engine from him sometime soon. hehe.

Hi

Thanks for the support. I have only got the car rolling around outside the house and a blip of the throttle destroyed the plastic pulleys and middle belts!

I have ordered steel re enforced belts 5mm pitch that can take 74lbs load and aluminium pulleys.

The gearing on the car will remain the same but the gearing from the layshaft will be changed from 20-48T to 32-32t to give 1/1 drive to the rear axle.

For the 2 speeds I think it will happen like this.

As the first engine shifts in to 2nd gear the car will accelerate and the other engines will pick up speed rotating the layshaft faster and kicking in the other 2 speeds. If the are set anywhere near close they will all change so fast you wont notice it. (Thats the theory!)

The problem is the clutches. Normally a 1/8th car engages the clutch and it slips until the car pick up speed which is only a fraction of a second. On mine this will be a long time so I am expecting a lot of slip.

I will add 3 small grub screws to each weight to increase the clutch engage pressure but this will kick in the clutch really early so might stall the engines. I need to find the right balance

Grinder! Send me a sticker for the side of the car!!
