Thanks AFM,

I will only be using 16% nitro in this motor.

If I look at the info you provided, the only plugs that I should use are the C5TGC, C6TGC, C5TGF, C6TGCF.

I understand the concept of the C for hot and F for cold in the post. The only area that is still unclear to me, is the temperature section. Our temperatures almost never goes below 15deg C on race days. (mostly 20-40)

If I look at the temperatures for the plugs, I should be using the number 7 and 8 plugs, but they are all for the 20-30 and 30-up nitro engines.

Should I look at the nitro percentage or the temperature as a deciding factor.

Here is our current weather info:
Temp: 28 DEG C
Humidity: 50%
Altidude: 1333m above sea level

Yes, go by the nitro %.
Regarding your altitude: Normally all Nova engines come with 0.40mm shims (0.30 + 0.10), which is good for up to 30% nitro at sea level. When using 16 to 20% nitro we use only the 0.30mm shim at sea level, but your altitude is on the limit of changing to only 0.20mm shim using 16% nitro. You'll have to test and see whta works best.

The plugs with cold thermal range F (Fredda), have a body with thinner walls and shorter body, so they dissipate heat better and faster to the engine head. The number of threads is the same on both types of plugs.

How to select the proper plug:
·When the ambient temperature is high, we have to use a plug with thicker wire.

·Humidity determines if we use a Cold (F) thermal range, or Hot (C) thermal range.
·With high humidity percentage we should use a Hot (C) thermal range plug.
·If we have high temperature and high humidity, we should use a plug with thick wire and a Hot(C) thermal range.

The best instrument to determine which Turbo Plug to use, is those table digital weather stations, that have Temperature, Humidity, and some also Barometric Pressure on them. That is the key to success or failure tuning engines with Turbo Glow Plugs, because they are so sensitive to weather variations that is unbelievable.

Following is a selection chart for Novarossi Turbo Glow Plugs

Type Thermal Range Nitro% Air Temp.C° Humidity%
C5TGC Hot/hot wire 10-20 0-10 70-100
C6TGC Hot/average wire 10-20 10-16 70-100
C7TGC Hot/cold wire 20-30 16-25 70-100
C8TGC Hot/ultra cold wire 30-up 25-up 70-100
C5TGF Cold/hot wire 10-20 0-10 40-70
C6TGF Cold/average wire 10-20 10-15 40-70
C7TGF Cold/cold wire 20-30 16-25 40-70
C8TGF Cold/ultra cold wire30-up 25-up 40-70

For Altitude you have to adjust your compresion ratio (higher) reducing shims on chamber, and/or use higher nitro % fuel. Depends on how high you are. Plugs will be the same as per chart.

Unfortunately it has rained here for the last 3 Sundays. Probably going to rain again this Sunday.
I will break the engine in tomorrow, if it does not rain the engine will be tested stock this weekend.
I can't wait.

Say Grinder,, If you don't mind me asking, is there a special method you preffer to use to breaking- in your engines or you like to stick with the orthodox break-in procedure?

Ever considered the Wide Open Throttle break-in method (aka Josh Cyrul method)..??

Default Mega ZX .12

Hi Grinder.

I would like to ask if you have done much work on these Mega ZX .12 motors?
Is there much to be gained without losing or risking too much on reliability? I'm talking now of the legal 3 port motor.

I would not ask for specific info' just an idea to see if it's worth doing any or much mod work myself.

I will have one of these motors as a practice/ backup motor. Any info' would be greatly appreciated.

Grinder: I have finished breaking in and tuning my Nova 12+3SCT Found out that the 7fins manifold work best in out local tracks Was wondering if you could give any tips on how to maintain ceramic bearings and how often would I check or change this bearing as as compared to the regular metal bearings? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks

Not much, if any. The +12-3CT is no more. Novarossi is only making the SCT now.
