You must remove the fuel line from the carberetor, then turn the engine over on the starter box until it starts. It will usually idle for 5 seconds or so, then try restarting until the engine will not try to fire anymore. This usually takes 4-5 times restarting to burn all residual fuel out of the engine.

Then fill the carberetor up with after run oil, and turn the engine over on the starter box for 3 seconds. Then repeat with one more carb full of after run oil, and turn it over on the box for 3 seconds.

If you don't get that left over fuel out of the case, it's most likely going to start rusting on the rear bearing, even with after run oil.

Do this at the end of each day to prevent any rusting. Rusting can start very quickly in humid conditions. Like overnight.
The effects of humidity would explain it. It gets up to 100 degrees humidity here in the summer. I do somewhat what you mentioned in my .12s but haven't been as diligent with the .21 motors. I rev up the motor to get it going then I pull the fuel line. Once it dies, I try to start it 2-3 more times.

Most people do not ARO at all so I was wondering if I was simply wasting money. others use the Nova bearing oil, is that effective at all?

I'm new to nitro and looking into buying my first .21 engine for 8th onroad. ISON engine looks to be what I should be buying, so I'm curious as what the $60 premium of Murnan engines include over a stock ISON engine?

Are these engines broken in already?

Maybe Uriah should respond but he may then come across as hooting his own horn. So...

He's an engine specialist who balances, ports, polishes andtunes engines, he also has a run in service. When dealing with all the ancillary stuff, if you say a front bearing for a Nova 353 .12, he knows what you are talking about, same for gaskets springs and everything else. He also has a good selection of everything you need for engines, so it's a one stop engine shop. So for the sake of $60, saving the shipping and pain from various other suppliers and it's more than worth it.

Hi. My modified ISON will give you more aggressive bottom end acceleration, with more top speed as well. The engine will still make 5 minutes runtime on most tracks.

The engines do not come broken in. I do have a break in service that leaves the engine race ready after you run only a couple of tanks gradually leaning.

Default Murnan Modified ISON GT is the 2014 GT8 National Champion

Congratulations Mike Lyday, Murnan Modified, and Team Serpent. Your new GT8 National Champions!

Mike Lyday is the new GT8 National Champion. Mike Lyday drove a near flawless race with his Serpent Cobra GT, Murnan Modified Novarossi ISON GT Engine combo. Mike had the fastest car on the track, the fastest pit guy, and kept his focus for 45 minutes.

Congratulations Champ! Thanks for choosing to race with Murnan Modified!

lagcisco, trust us on this...you want him to work on the motor and break it in for you. We're not here for the fancy signature on the head

Hello Uriah which of your tuned engines would you advise in the .21 category ?

And what is your idea on the RB CXR CIRCUIT SLS Direct Intake 9 compared to the normal SLS9 after your tuning ?

Well, our world champs are done for 2014 and all three of our Murnan performed flawlessly. Uriah, we kept the one with no pinch for last and everyone was right, it was brilliant. My tune wasnt the best and running cold #7 plugs with an extra .1 shim caused a flame out at start. Partly Luke's fault, somewhat mine with a low idle but out on track in the hands of a first timer at the worlds it had all the power we needed and didnt miss a beat.

One of them was still tight and I think it needed more track time. The rod needed changing and perhaps needs one more.. have two spare PSR so it's no big deal! The first one had a loose grub screw on the throttle ball joint and it caused a lot of stress until we realised what was going on, should have checkeed them anyway.

To conclude, the entire package was awesome, to have everything you need, the spares, the reliability and power made for a stress free experience when it came to engines.

We also met the Nova Distributor and he knows you well, so I asked him to also give you a big thanks for taking care of us both.

Sincerely

Harry and Luke

Hi. Both tuned engines are very fast. I prefer the sls9 due to rebuilding cost. (Rear bearing) Both are very fast, and can make 5 minutes runtime usually.

Some other great on road .21's would be

MM OS2101. (Big power, good runtime)
MM Nova Virtus. (Big power, good runtime)
MM 35 plus 21 (Big power, not good runtime)

You can't go wrong with any of these.

Just wanted to say thanks to Uriah for the help this season! We just concluded our 10 race series at my local track and I was able to win 1st place this year in expert nitro sedan running Murnan Nova engines. His engines are always ballistic and reliable. Never had one hiccup all season! Thanks again!!

I have not tested it yet. It looks like it would run very well from the pictures. I will have to start testing one soon.
