HI URIAH
RACED MY SIRIO EVO 2 WITH THE SIRIO PIPE IN THE LAST RACE OF THE SEASON YESTERDAY. ENGINE WAS DOING GREAT, IT WAS AN HOUR LONG RACE, NO TEMP PROBLEMS, WASN'T THE FASTEST ENGINE THERE THOUGH, BUT I WAS HOLDING A STRONG 3RD AFTER HALF AN HOUR RACE UNTIL SOME &%$**&$** ĦĦĦBANG!!!!HIT ME HARD ON THE PIPE SIDE AND..... BYE BYE SIRIO PIPE, IT WAS COMPLETELY FLATENED ON THE FIRST CONE AND THE ENGINE MISALIGNED FROM THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND.....AFTER TWO LAPS MY SPURS SAID...BYE BYE. VERY FRUSTRATING.
WELL THE THING IS I JUST FINISHED DISASSEMBLING THE ENGINE TO CLEAN IT AND CHECK IT AND FOUND THAT THE CONROD HAD ALREADY A LOT OF VISUAL PLAY WITH THE CRANK PIN WHEN THE PISTON IS AT TDC.
IS IT NORMAL AFTER A TOTAL OF 1.5 HOURS USE???
THE CRANK PIN MEASURES 4.45MM AND THE CONROD BUSHING 4.50MM, SHOULD I CHANGE THE CONROD???

The engine should be fine. Sirio's fit between crank pin and rod is looser than Novas. it may feel loose, but probably does not need changed yet. What type of motors were faster than the Sirio. Yes NS12's are faster, but also $100.00 more expensive.

Just curious as to how you can tell with one engine faster than ther other on the track!? Maybe the other car has different gearing???

I have experimented with both engines and with the same gearing modified NS12 has more top speed. The modified Sirio is a very good engine though, very tough to beat it's bottom and midrange power. I use both depending on the track.

Grinder, please please reply my email. Or perhaps you can PM or just give the details on line here on the forum. Basically need 2 x NSR5s to be modified. Just need to know if you're willing to do it for me and if so how long will it take, how much and how do you want to be paid.

Appreciate it,
Thanks.

Well Uriah:
The first place engine was an RB X12 Rody Modified on a Kyosho V1RR
Second Place engine was a Novamega MS 2104 on a highly modified Serpent (laydown servos, light weight Mugen gearbox, redistributed battery-tank location, etc.)
Both cars had the same gear relation.
I had a 1 tooth shorter gear relation, because the power curve on my Sirio is at higher revs. I tried with same gear ratio than them but my engine just wouldn't get on the pipe at the right moment. I run a Yokomo GT4 PRO. it isn't an issue of handling either, when we were on the straight they had a better top end, I could stay on their tails (about two car lenghts) but didn't have the extra speed to fight with them. I might try different compression ratio and plug next time. I'm just learning the "secrets" of the Sirio, but in all I'm happy with it, it's just a matter of time. Maybe i'll have to get one of your Sirio's with your tuning, jajajajajaj.

Its also nice that a person with this much talent can not only modify an engine but be very humble about them also not like some other engine moders I know..

Uriah it was very nice to meet you and keep up the good work,

Take care,

Congrats to Uriah for an incredible drive at the Winternats.

Without the plug problem he would have been in the A-main.

He was on FIRE

I think he had the RR in there, he spoke of changing to the Sirio, because of the fuel mileage everyone was getting, but I don't think he did...we both use the same pipe...the TP-04. (NovaMega 2104)
