Yes it does not have the revised carb. it is a very easy fix though. Pressure test the carb. and run a seal around the plastic to alumn. housing, if you are unsure where, check back a page or 2 AZTman posted pictures of his after he sealed it.

Question after 15 tanks or so...
I have it set to a normal/rich LSN, starts to load up after a bit. I have it set really rich on HSN, to where it juuuust barely clears out. Any richer and it blubbers along. Tons of good smoke throughout rpm range, never leans out or acts lean. It's just that the temps jump really quickly. It cools down to under 210 if I let it sit for a bit, then I punch it for about 50' not over-revving, turn, and WOT back, stop, and it's 257 or something, blowing tons of smoke all the way. I know that's not too bad, but I'm thinking it will continue to climb if I'm racing.
Sealed carb, backplate, no bubbles in fuel, normal throttle response, steady idle, no tank leak, no line leaks, temp consistent throughout tank fill levels.

Here's what I'm wondering.
Does using 20% cause the motor to run hotter on breakin? I'm trying to figure out how I can race, but it still gets hot really fast when I punch it. Should I switch to 30%? I'm running Sidewinder. Or, is it just that the asphalt is 160degrees and doesn't have enough of a temp difference to cool the motor no matter what I do?
Thanks for your thoughts guys!

To me it sounds like the engine is running hot because its too rich. What is happening is the engine wants to push the truggy and its being held back by the load of the truggy, then you are adding to the load by dumping in more fuel than it can burn. But when you stop that added fuel cools the engine down to 210.

You are about 1/2 a gallon of fuel right now, so the temps are not extremely hot for that amount of metal pinch. I would say lean the top so the engine can clear out at RPM. Then go a head an richen the LSN to bring the temps down (if they go up). Make sure your idle gap is set to 1 - 1.5mm.

The 20% Nitro shouldn't matter.

That sounds ok but what oil content is in your fuel ? the temps your running at are fine , in fact i wouldnt worry about the temps at all .. the engines run happily at between 120 and 160 deg c thats between 250 and 330 F.. ive run my 5 port at 169 deg c and it was starting to sag on power .. ive found mine likes to sit between 140 and 145 Deg C which is about 290 F ...

there are common myths about what temp ranges you "Should " run at but in reality there is no " correct " temp ... By all means if you are new then use one to gauge where its at as a matter of curiosity but dont let it rule your tuning ..

I have a rule with my race team here " temp guns are not allowed onto the track or pit area " we had a driver with a great mechanic but he was always temping the motor ... it was driving me insane ! he wa seven temping the tires lol and he never got a tune he was happy with ... he had it in his head that it had to be a certain temp and wouldnt listen ... it can become an addiction .. beware the temp guns dont get you !

I'm running 20/12 Sidewinder. I don't let temp dictate tuning. I'm still breaking in the motor, so I want to make sure I don't cook it or break it. My only two other nitro motors were .15 and .28 sport motors that ran right in the 240 range. Anything higher and they popped plugs.
Thanks guys for the help.

No havent tried it yet .. Weve been pretty happy with the HN 2047 on that one .. BG Mock just recieved his Go Tech 5 port modified ( and highly polished ) motor on the weekend and he thinks its pretty good . Im not sure what pipe hes running .. il ask him ..

Another of our team drivers uses the HN 2047 on the 7 port and hes wrapped.. I tried the LRP 2063 and whoa ! talk about crisp ! Went from 11.20 min on a tank to 11.12 but gained a lotta torque ! which is what i was after ... I race a hyper 7 , very heavy ...

OH...Here we all are, I finally found you all.

Mr Mock would like to say that his NEW XB8 EC and His Hugely MASSIVE Go TEch 5 Port super duper Massive Engine is the damn BEST EVER!

I'm yet to put on the hours for this combo but its definately Bloody Quick to say the least.

The 5 Port is everything I wanted....And its not even run in yet ..I cant wait for the end product EH!!!

So far it has Huge torque and incredible OS Speed Top end.....Yes OS SPEED.. no worries, I asked for it and i recieved it, now all I need to do is DRIVE IT!!!!

I Currently Use the JP-3 pipe which I highly recomend, I also have a JP-2 to slippery days but has bad economy (but still to much power) also have a new HN2047 and the rare HN2062 which Im dying to try but cant bring myself to ruin its pretty CHROME finish.

Before This I had a MOCK Modded Cobra which Had a full power lifespan Of 3 litres and then It really did go down hill from there.. Altho it did go for 42 litres. MY Gotech Makes it look like a pissa $%@# to put it frankly. Yes I know that Cobra Won the damn Euros....It was a FLUKE Eh!!!Trust me it was in a HYPER 8....Had to be a Fluke

PS Mark.....PLEASE Get rid of your Hyper 7 and get an EC for God sake....It like the difference between my Go tech and my Cobra... Theres no comparrison, dont kid yourself man you will enjoy the Ride better it a LUXURY Buggy. You deal with the Importers, so there's no excuse is there.

To put it better, Its like me driving a HOLDEN to Work everyday.....Goes down good for a FORD Specialist doesn't it.

CMC have been trying to get me into an X Ray for a while now on road and off.. i just cant justify it , i hardly ever get a chance to race any more... I used to race twice a week ! now its once every 6 months ..

Tell you what , ill come down and race your car next time im in Vic ok : )

Nice work.

Just for interest. Do anyone know of any racer that has popped a GO. What is the max lifespan from the GO?
