Not to clear it when engine rotates, but to open the ports earlier......
Get the clips out with a little screwdriver....
and getting them out is not the problem, getting NEW ones in..... (never use old ones)
You only have to remove 1 clip, as you can push the conrod pin out then.....
Also watch the conrod, cause this also needs to be fitted correct.
Just look at the lubrication hole for the big-end bearing (which connects to the crankshaft) this hole should also face the crank
