Default Protek LS-5

I see they're not actually released yet, but does anyone have any inside info on these. I see Nova on the case but not experienced enough to identify if its a "rebrand" or whatnot. I noticed there's not much info out there about protek engines (maybe AMAIN just started recently) other than a little on the samurai. Thoughts on whether it's worth a $200 risk vs. a werks?

What would you guess the performance would be with the carb change slightly better, slightly worse?

Good engine at a good price if you ask me. I don't see the point of the $3-400 engines, seems like a waste of RC budget. But if people want to throw that kind of coin, more power to them. For club racing a engine like this one or a Novarossi/Top Elite 5 are great. I came close to getting a Picco Boost 5TR recently but opted for the Elite 5. In the end I could buy two Elite 5's for the price of one Picco, and the Picco is pretty cheap compared to some.

My situation too.. I could spend money on top dollar stuff but just to club race or grudge race at the track I just started going to i see no point for myself to get TOO deep. Just thinking where they are just releasing it. I might be the only one to run it and maybe it'll have just enough of an edge to be worth it.

I'm going to run one in truggy and one in buggy. Haven't decided on pipe for the truggy yet but I'm going to test the buggy with a 086 and a 2096 to see what works best for me.

Any feedback on these engines yet ? I've got one coming in the mail on Friday. Was gonna buy the novarossi p5 but they were on back order, and amain assured me this is essentially the same engine with a different carb on it. Still a nova crank case Andy internals. Gonna be putting it in my tekno nb48.3, first kit I've ever built and first RC in about ten years. For exhaust I went with the novarossi erfa2096 w/ short smooth manifold, amain said this would be the best match for this engine and a new driver. Excited to get it rolling
