You'll do more wear to the engine running at 30% without a shim and may be harder to tune. Buy some 25% and a shim. When you get a few gallons through it, put the shim in it and use that old nitro. It keeps for quite a while as long as the lids on tight.

Some car fuel has a castor/synth blend, but most of the time it's a 20/80'blend of castor/synthetic - at ~10% oil content, that isn't much castor. Ringless engines tend to run better and cooler with a little more castor in the mix - at least when using the available synthetics here in the USA. Europe has much better synthetic oils that are heaps better than the crap we have in the USA, so YMMV depending on where you live.

I too mix my own fuel. Can't beat $20 a gallon when the Hobby shops around here are getting $38 a gallon. My break-in fuel is about $6/gal.. I love it.

I use Torco nitro, local methanol and Klotz oils. Been using a 6% syn 3% castor and as far as power goes it blows all other fuels out the water. I've been thinking about trying Nova Rossi oils but can't seem to justify the xtra cash. Airplane guys seem to make their on nitro a lot. So I checked out a few forums before starting. Most say all castor is the same. From wallmart to racing shops. I've only been able to get my costs down to 28 a gallon. That's still a 10 dollar a gal diff, which is another gallon after four and I love the way it runs and the Klotz really does have a nice sweet aroma.

The Novarossi 1N1 oil is castor oil I believe. I looked at the MSDS for it some time ago.

I use castor from an apothecary outfit online for $17 a gallon. I use Klotz Techniplate synthetic also, but only because it's easily obtainable. I prefer to use a better synthetic though. Methanol is around $2.75 a gallon and Torco Nitro runs around $50/gal.

Nova also has a full syn Nov1t2 and a syn/castor Nov1t3 mix. Klotz castor oil is Benol. When I get the nitro to my house it's 58 bucks. I live in state and get taxed.

Piccos break in fast! Easiest engine I have ever broke in. I'm breaking in a 5TB as we speak. Hopefully tomorrow it will be done. Still hitting the 100's here and i'm over the heat. I think Picco has a permanent customer in me. Engines are fast!

Which picco combo are you running in truggy? I have the rave v1 in buggy and live it. I have an older r5r team but she's getting a little old and need a replacement.

Here's a new one. Engine is about 3 months old. Probably has about gallon and a half. Runs great, just started leaning it out a bit to get more power. What is happening since it has cooled off...65 and below. I warm it with the head heater until about 140, 150. When I start it, it will idle but when applying throttle it will just die. After about 3 times of this, with the head heater still on. It will finally clear out and then no issues. It only does it when starting and it does it every time after it cools. So sitting for a week, between rounds. Has never flamed out, once it gets past that little issue it doesn't do it again until the next time I go to start it. New plug, old plug it's the same.

sounds like the plug is too cold or headclearance too big. take out 0,10mm or try hotter plug.
