Ceramic engine bearings

Ceramic engine bearings
Basically its getting expensive rebuilding my piccos, constant WOT pulls and im pullin bearings between 1-3gallons. From what ive read, the front bearing should still be stock as the ceramic wont seal until the motor is up to temp. The rear is recommeded to be swapped for ceramic.
This issue i have is that a stock picco rear bearing is $50 and a TKO ceramic is $22, I know true ceramics are super expensive, just seems odd to me. Are there some other options out there?

I found a bearing kit from boca and its not a bad price, but is it worth it to use the boca front bearing or keep using the stock?

Are you running the new bearings in?

I run the Picco 28 modded by ERCM, most of my running is done onroad and i have never had any issues with the front bearing. But I replace when I replace the rear and conn rod.
Most think what I do is silly but I like to go as fast as I can in a straight line. Its just full pulls like this are causing me to rebuild much much sooner. I guess ill have to take a leap and buy a set of avid or bocas.

Not ceramic but this size steel bearing is used in the Hobbyking engine, I believe for just 15 dollar or less you will have a set of steel bearings. So far the cheapest I have found.

That's odd you are going thru bearings that fast, Picco bearings are very good. I have had the best luck with TKO bearings, than the other brands mentioned. And we replace bearings on hundreds of engines per year.
If you are eating through bearing I would take a look at your fuel or other issues as again something doesn't sound right.

Picco can have problems with rear bearings, and I use TKO right now, but apparently Argus/GO bearings works well if you want steel bearing.
I haven't measured the fitting on a Picco case, maybe it's different or maybe they expand slightly different from others... Tighter bearings and/or a little castor oil works great.

I use Werks 30% and Odonnels 30% race fuel, when I can I only run the Werks. As for why I go through bearings so quick, its because I do top speed runs, one of my piccos has between 7-8 gallons thru it with constant WOT pulls, its been rebuilt 3 times going on 4. I spoke with Robin at ERCM last night and he mentioned that most racers are using .21's and that the 28 is slightly more unbalanced than a 21. That being said, those of you who run 28's are you suggesting I try the TKO bearings? Im pulling between 25-29k rpm. I have more life in my 3 modded piccos but its $120 a rebuild hence why id like to find a cheaper bearing but still retain the quality. Conn rods im just SOL on at $50 a pop lol
I also only run McCoy #8's

Is that where you drill out some small holes in the crank balance and fill with something else?

Balancing an one-cilinder engine is very difficult. It is just to simple to say to drill a hole and put in some brass or tungsten weight.
