X5 lightning or Nova 4BTTA tuned. ????
Fellas quick question, For those of you who have ran both who know these motors inside and out...... Is there a better of the 2? Ease of tuning, Longevity, runtime......etc. x5lightning vs 4btta tuned. Price not being a factor

X5L is a hell of a engine. I have a X5R "FM" and love it. I also have a +4 Btta "FM" The BTT might have a slight advantage in run time only because my X5 just dropped its nuts at season end and I really didn't get to lean on it to much. and when I say slight I mean very slight, 15 to 20 seconds. Both are easy 10+ minute engines.
They both tune very easy IMHO. and if you take care of them they both will last a long time. my +4 went 8 gallons before a rework, only because I had a big race and didn't want to have issues so I got a new rod and a pinch.
the X5 is a Nova, don't let the price fool you they are top of the line made with Nova parts in Italy.

So would you guys say that the x3L is a even better buggy motor?? than X5? If you not blessed with Drakes trigger finger!

Between the X5 and the X5L i use each as a tuning option, X5 in loose track conditions and the X5L when grip is good.

My favourite buggy engine is the X5L.
I own an X3L,X5L and a Nova BTTWC with ceramic rear.
The X5 Race is a smooth engine, but the X5L continues to make power where I feel the X5 Race plateaus out.
All engines can produce similar run times depending on clutch/pipe and track conditions.
You won't be disappointed in the X5L, it has the 17011 front bearing, and If you feel it has too much power, you could possibly de tune by switching pipes.
Just my 2c worth.
Cheers,
