If you have tons of torque then the steel will slow down the spool up of the engine because it is heavier. The downside to this is it is harder on the engine in theory. Aluminum is lighter and thus in theory it is easier on an engine because it has a lighter spinning mass on the crank.

Both are good for off road, if you have tons of wheel spin then try out a heavier flywheel, or if your track is really bumpy the heavier flywheel will help reduce wheel spin.

in my opinion the aluminum is better, there are only a hand full of engines out there that the steel flywheel wont effect low end power, unless you put really stiff clutch springs in for the extra snap and torque.

It does make a difference if you travel you should own one. Steel is a great option for those hairy loose tracks . It slows down the motor for a better power curve.

The steel flywheel just helps make everything smoother. One of my friends got one and he likes it better. Sometimes it will help depending on the track. You want as little wheel spin as you can get because that means that there is more power to the ground. But it is all preference.

The biggest difference is idle tendencies and immediately revving off-idle. After that, your clutch matters WAAAAY more than the flywheel ever could.

It's just simple physics...

If you want to reduce wheel spin or smooth the bottom end, adjust your clutch and use the cars weight to your advantage - which has way more load than the difference between two flywheels.

M2C Variable weight aluminum flywheel so you can tune to what ever track without having to have 2 different flywheels
