I should have worded this better. All the plugs have the heat range on them but are they rated the same.Is there a set guideline for how they are rated or is up to the OEM.

No , there isnt really a "baseline" standard as plugs of dfrnt mfgrs are designed so dfrnt , small diameter orifice with ultra thin filament which kinda acts the same as a larger orifice with thicker filament , the mfgrs try to keep plugs in the propr heat range for their respected engines

The 97t is very hot and fragile , easy to tune but doesnt last long and should be replaced often , although steve is coming out with "new" plugs sometime soon

Novas use c5tgc , c6tgc and c7tgc from cool to warm weather

thanks monty I am finding that using the 97t plugs run well for a while and then all of a sudden die(just before you are about to go out on the track) so looks like the nova plugs are the go after I go thru the remaining 97t plugs

That is very ttue

Nova plugs r gooood

Another element effecting plug heat range is the exotic metalblend in the filament , all kinds of crazy xpnsv metals in there hence price differences
