alpha by far are the best in my opinion for price all the way around. And they scream and tune very easy. my 2cents. but there will be a war on the "best" budget engine though,
cuz everyone has their own opinion

Check out the Argus as well . Top of the charts power, great fuel mileage and long lasting 7-8 gallons is average life without changing anything and very stable and reliable tune. Can beat it for the price.

Nova N21B or Werks B2. Both well under what you're looking to spend and both run well with inexpensive & tough Dynamite 086 pipes.

when my RTR 350 Losi engine dies I am going to replace it with the same at under $100. I wish I had money for sick power...

Just buy something you can afford.Don't buy into the big hp gimmick. For most average racers more power usually causes more headaches than good results.for most people the cheapest 21's have more than enough power.Quite a few people at our local track have been running the dynamite 21(the red headed one)I've even seen 1 running it on a truggy and he didn't have any problems clearing any of the jumps. The only real benefit to more expensive engines is fuel mileage, and even them on larger tracks may struggle to make 10 min pitstops.

Just from what I have used recently, best bang for buck was the Fusion X3. Cheap motor, Novarossi quality. I ran it for awhile when I was waiting on my B6's to get pinched.

But you can't go wrong with any WERKS motors. I love them..

Can you or J.Whiting explain what all the different models are? I thought 852 was for buggy and didn't realise there was Z, A and S ??

Definitely Argus.

Maybe Go GX II HO.

Alpha..(The Argus is basically a rebadged Alpha..)

Werks B5 is apparently good value-for-money too. Their pipes are just expensive..

Given European prices anyway for all of the above though, no question - Argus.

(I've only got three tanks through mine at this point, so it might blow up on the fourth. So I'm not speaking from first hand experience re the Argus, Alphas, or Werks. - my Go engines have been fantastic.. But the feedback has been good - no, excellent - on all the above engines. It's not possible for me to test everything, so going on extensive positive feedback for all of the above, the Argus wins on price - here anyway.. That's why I say Argus. Very good price, and loads of very enthusiastic owners, with very few if any complaints..)
