Default replacing thermo insulator on O.S. 21J carb

has anyone ever replaced the thermal insulator that goes around the outside of the carb where it meets the motor on O.S. carbs? you can purchace the part seperate from the carb, but i just wanted to know what it took to install it.

It's easy. Cut the old one off using care not to cut into the aluminum. Clean carb up well with electronic spray or something similar. I used a clear epoxy from autozone and installed new insulator. Done.

You only need a tiny amount of epoxy.

You definitely don't want to glob the stuff on there, only to have it mush out and mess up the o-ring surface when you slide the new insulator on.

Don't give it too much worry. To be honest, cutting the old one off, and actually mixing the epoxy are the two most laborious parts of the job.
