Will 1 tooth make a big difference?

Rule of thumb...

Increasing spur gear size by 2 teeth is very close to decreasing clutch bell size by 1 tooth.

You'll feel a bigger difference going down 1 tooth on the clutch bell. It will have more bottom end, but will lose straight line speed. I did this for a small indoor track we've been running at and it made a big difference for me. The car tops out perfectly for the straight, but has tons of low end.

Bigger pinion gear= more top speed and less acceleration. Smaller pinion=less top speed and more acceleration..Smaller spur gear= more top speed and less acceleration.Bigger spur gear= less top speed and more acceleration..
