I use either a heat gun or the wife's hair dryer (when she isn't looking!)

Heat gun for sure. Hair dryer works but takes longer.

I've used a heat gun myself. I'm planning on picking up a Competition Heat engine warmer though. Seems like a much easier/nicer/better way to heat an engine up. Seems to me that a heat gun doesn't really saturate the engine with heat very well. The warmer should have no problems saturating the whole block with heat.

I use a heat gun. I got it at Home Depot for 20$ and it cranks 1200W. I saw a guy with the engine warmer sleeve and that seems pretty cool, but I'm just as happy with the heat gun.

I use the heater from my 1:1 car when im out bashing.

Travel the the cars heater on & my rc down in the passenger foot well. This heats the engine while im driving to my bash spot. It doesnt get it very hot though, helps a bit when starting.

The heat gun is to much of a pain to use. I use the heat band. So easy. The funny part is everyone thought it was crazy before this new heater came out. Then it becomes cool. I would highly recommend you use something to pre-heat your engines through the whole life of the engine.

the engine warmers are the best way IMO
they heat the hole motor up in the 20mins
the heat gun just gets the out side hot not
the inside+chassis and all that hot air blowing
on the rest of the car is not necessary

I can remember 12-15 years ago you could walk through the pit area of any major motorsports race and there were no engine heaters, some teams used space heaters (equivalant of using a heat gun) Go to a race today and you will not see a team without a engine heater. The benefits are to great not to use one.

I'm a newbie so pardon my question; but why is it important for you guys to pre-heat the motor, as opposed to just running it easy until it's warm? Does it have to do with the format of the race, such as no place to warm it up pre-race by running it?
