great car.
For sure! I just meant, I am glad you are happy with the engine you created. Obviously it's not the engine that makes you faster. I learned that lesson years ago.

Yeah, i am definitley happy with this mill and my ninja as well. actually any o.s. with a coated crank for that matter.

the vspec crank is garbage. After the first one went 3 gallons i said never again.

The proper name is a Ninja spec. I coined it like 6 months ago when my buddy did this exact thing. It really does rock he is getting crazy run times and it will flat out fly.

Default ninja-spec

I have a worn out 3 gallon ninja, no pinch, and a 9 gallon speed, no pinch. From what I'm reading it sounds like I could take the ninja crank and put it in the speed crankcase, what piston sleeve and rod combo should I use?
I do have a good running V-spec, but I don't want to mess with it.LMK

3 gallons and it's no good? WoW. So if a sleeve has no pinch it's no good? I have my motor out of it's mind and there is no noticable pinch left at TDC.

Btw, i would try the 5 port in the speed with the lighter ninja crank.

A speed case with Ninja internals would be EPIC!

what was really strange to me was the tuning of it in general (seriously, a blind/deaf man could tune my motor). When i put the engine together (the P/S had some wear from my ninja), i backed the needles out 2 1/2 on the hsn and flush on the lsn (every o.s. motor i have owned has had a hsn setting at 2 1/4 at most). I started it up and it was blazing mad. I had to tune the hsn to 3 turns out and still got the same result (not quite but close enough), but felt a little better because i could see oil coming out the pipe at idle and good smoke.

But it still comes in at about 220 - 230

if i tune it down to anything less then 2 1/2 turns on the hsn, i swear it sounds like it's going to throw a rod the rpm's are so high.

it will then come in at 230 - 250

has no pinch but a ton of compression. This is why O.S motors produce the power they do.

No resistance and with a good break in the have a perfect fit with no pinch. As long as you change the bearings and rod, hopefully we can get 6 gallons out of a sleeve.

Hey allan. How did your experiment go

I posted my initial finds on the O.S. engines thread. Still have to do some testing though for sure. It's extremely reliable, which I like.

yeah, the vspec with that case and carb literally tunes itself. The ninja is a little more picky but i love that motor too.

Too bad i have a new one colecting dust right now

every now in then i do something right and have a special motor. sometimes you get one that really like you!
