Does anyone know if there is a company that makes a sleeve removal tool?

One that will work on those tough to get out sleeves?

I've seen the JP Tools one. Does anyone have any experience with that one? Does it work well?

Are there any others?

Not sure on that but what I do is put a piece of plastic (piece of servo arm) between the piston and the exhaust port then turn the crank over. Pops the sleeve right out with no damage to any parts.

The GRP engine tooling kit includes one. JP racing also makes one.

Truthfully I would just do what Kamlooper said if you don't own a tool. I use a large zip tie though. Just slide it in the exhaust port and turn the engine over and the sleeve should pop right out.

If it doesn't pop out.. Warm that bad boy up with the heat gun a little. I had to do this to my Picco all the time as its fit was really tight.

Just make sure the engine isn't to hot to hold or just get a pair of the gloves out..

Thanks for the tips. I've used zip-ties and even a soft piece of wood.

I wasn't sure about heating up the case, I figured the sleeve would expand the same as the case so it wouldn't really make a difference....

I've tried the grp one. Doesn't work for crap. Its about as powerful as sticking your finger in there and trying to pull it out that way....

Maybe if you can't pull it out with a tool like that it means any other method would damage the sleeve if it takes more force than that....

I would never recommend trying to pull the sleeve from the top, since you can scratch/gouge it that way, or in some instances where you have a lot of ports, you can even cause the sleeve to break, since there's very little brass between some of the ports.

You can make your own tool like I did: it's basically a 7mm acrylic rod that I shaped to have a slight "S" bend in it. Remove your backplate, position your piston at the top of the stroke so that the sleeve edge is uncumbered, place the rod against the bottom lip of the sleeve and just give a little push. If it's really in tight, you can use a hammer to gently tap the acrylic rod, and it'll come right out. No fuss, no damaged edges, no splinters; works like a charm every time

the jp tool works well, i have it and have never had a problem with it. you do have to get the oil out of the sleeve so the rubber will grip and pull the sleeve.

A jp one wont remove a stubburn sleve i have tried it and it didnt go well

+ 1 on lange zip tie.....or a freezer pop stick through exhaust port it will only move up about a quarter inch or so if that much. Good luck!!

i use needle nose pliers with the rubber handle and push it out..

i would be weery of doing it this way....ive torn the end of my rubber covered plyers before and it would suck to push so hard it tore the rubber and next thing you know you go a Big scratch up the sleeve......I would suggest the zip tie truck as it involves not removing the back plate.

The Fioroni doesn't work very well, If the sleeve is Loose enough to pull out with your Finger's the Fioroni will work, If not your still stuck to with the old methods.
