LRP engines

I replaced the V-Spec in my Kyosho Tryggy with the LRP .28 Spec 3 non-pull start and I will have to say that in a buggy the V-Spec is good but in the truggy the LRP romps over it on low end torque and top end. All this and the same fuel economy too.
My vote is with the LRP and who cares if it's a rebadged SH, it rocks.

you will not be disapointed.
if anyone is doubting the quality of the LRP i invite them to buy one & try it for themselves.
when you compare the v-spec too the lrp you are comparing two different styles of engine, not quality.
lrp z21r spec 2 is a 6 port engine that uses standard style plugs which also comes complete with alloy carbi venturi's
OS 21 v-spec is a 3 port engine that uses turbo style plugs which come with plastic carbi ventur's

Is alloy better than plastic

In relation to venturis, no, aluminum doesn't function better but looks nicer. However, composite (plastic) carbs do not heat up like alloy ones so it helps keep the fuel temperature down as it's mixed with air in the carb.
I should have mentioned that I was very surprised and impressed by the performance of the LRP .28 Spec 3 engine when I replaced the JP modified V-Spec. I thought it would be so-so at best for the price of $180. I never expected to have an engine that runs with the Novas and RBs and have power to spare.

I was racing my truggy in the A-Main last evening until a wreck took me out. As I was walking over to marshal the next race the TQ of truggy ask me what was in mine because, as he put it, "What engine are you running, your truggy is really fast?" When I told him it was an LRP .28 Spec 3 his jaw dropped. Why? Because the LRP was as fast if not faster than his Nova at nearly one third the price.
Cool!

WOW! It seems like this engine (Z.28R) is worth trying for. aside from its low price, It romps! I should get one for my Hyper ST!

I'll be having my Z.28R Spec 3 by the end of this month. What is the ideal pipe for this engine?

I ran the Z28 pullstart spec 3 on my LST2 (heavy truck!) and I never felt like I needed more power. I'm not sure about fuel economy. I was getting about 12-13 minutes per tank, but that was on the LST2 stock tank which I believe is 250cc. I also got good life out of my Spec 3, I sold it when it was on it's 6-7th gallon and it still had compression with all original parts/bearings. Great engine for the price, but my only concern in a truggy w/ 150cc tank would be fuel economy.
