Default 2015-2016 Premier R/C Raceway's ROCKSTAR Winter Off-Road Series is Back!

Portland's most successful off-road series is back in full force at Premier R/C Raceway starting November 13th!

History:
The ROCKSTAR Short Course Series was first started by Kyosho America/Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars, ROCKSTAR's Joey Lancaster, & Portland R/C Raceway's Owner Jim Dunlap 6 years ago. This Friday night series brought out many of the best Short Course racers from all around the North-West which produced countless epic battles and great times!

Last Year:
After a 3-year break, Kyosho America/Team Orion USA Team Manager Joe Pillars & Premier R/C Raceway's Owner Bruce Lawson brought back this fun and competitive series.

The series will once again be held on Friday nights with the track open from 12:00pm to 6:45pm for practice with racing starting right at 7:00pm. The race entry will be $15.00 per class. This will be a 6 race series with 2 throw outs. 1 bonus point will be awarded for TQ.

We will run 2 5-Minute Qualifiers, 5-Minute Bump-Ups and Single 5-Minute A-Mains to help finish at a decent hour. We will resort after the first round of qualifying to allow for better racing. The top 6 drivers after qualifying is complete will go straight into the A-Main with a 2 car bump in the lower mains.

This just in! I am very excited to announce that AKA has just joined our ROCKSTAR Winter Off-Road Series this year as the Slick Handout Tire for all Buggy Classes! Premier will be offering these handout tires at a Special Series Price during each Friday night of the ROCKSTAR Series!

Awesome Joe! Looking forward to it.

Shaun, tonight at Premier's practice/short course race there were 8 short course trucks. Most I have seen a a club race in a long time.

I've been told that 13.5 4wd is more popular than mod 4wd at Premier, so picked up a 13.5 motor to run on Fridays this fall/winter season. Is everyone switching back to mod now?

I've only heard the 13.5's can't handle belt drive 4wds natural drag. Nothing about it being removed. And to be perfectly honest, 13.5 (shaft driven) and a smidgen of boost is pretty dialed. (unless we go back to super easy fast layouts)

13.5 4wd had a good little run but faded off. With next months invite being mod 4w and the Rockstar series as well, I think everyone is converting over.

I will have mod 4w tomorrow night for the warmup.

Nice. Not sure why I was being told that 13.5 is the go-to 4wd class at Premier. Bought a B44.3 and D4 13.5 specifically for the class. This will be the 3rd 13.5 I've purchased to fit in to an existing class, only to have those classes fizzle out a week or two later. Need to stop drinking the KoolAid.

Two options on your 13.5: One put it in the wheeler and boost it. Would actually be pretty good as long as temps stay low. Also, 13.5 Superstock truck.

I love 4 wheel but it is one of those finicky classes that comes and goes a lot. I know the RC plus guys are talking about getting 4w mod going down there as well.

Woot! Cheap tires!

Are we doing all classes or only buggy classes?

Edit: This was a dumb question. They only make buggy slicks. teehee? :P
