I'll take that under consideration, since I'mm pretty old also. I'm also leaning toward the opposite canadate that Fred sis supporting. I'm pretty sure that would be a safe bet.
well is obvious to me that this tread may have been started for a reason, not sure why as there was already a thread for the RD. sssooo i will just copy and paste a already posted response just in case you were talking about him. the name as be changed to fit your question.
If it a conflict in your eyes John....then step up and do it...
I stepped in cause nobody wanted to do it.....now I get the conflict of interest.
Which, will really ALWAYS exsist in the hobby....as even as a racer, you could have a conflict if you wanted to actually still RACE the hobby you enjoy...
This type of crap is getting OLD...
And wasn't Scott the regional director way back when.....and doesn't he own TRCR?
end of copy,

Thanks, Ritchie, I hadn't read any earlier responce personally so I honestly didn't know. If I read between the lines, Roar probably has a system in place to safe guard against any question of conflict of interest. Personally I thought an owner/operator would be a good potential RD.
You should vote for the person you have the most trust in and whatever your gut feeling tells you.
Both of us would be good for the job - which would be better well who knows. I cant say cause I cant fore see the future. This really shouldnt turn into a pissing match between Eddie and myself and I dont want it that way.
We both are running to make a difference and try and get Region 11 back on track and the way it used to be with bigger turnouts.
I dont know Dave, but I have been reading all the posts about the RD campianing.
When Dave decided to run, then said he didn't need to be a current member, then finally folded and joined. Well, that just doesn't show me strong leadership .
I think that we need someone that will step out into the storm and take a strong stance. To me it seems ROAR already has enough of the " well, OK, but I'm not sure" leadership.
I have met Eddie, but dont know him well, other than to say hi and maybe ask a few questions, to which I did get anwers. He did show backbone with his attempt to get the battery change, He just got blown away by the "well OK"
leadership that didn't know his authority.

Think you missed my point on the ROAR Membership. People asked me to run becouse they know me and how I am. I accepted so once I became a nominee and the 15th passed it came up that ROAR had an issue with me not being a current ROAR member.
I simply stated I didnt see the issue since I have been a member since 1995 on up to 2004 and I was nominated by the people of Region 11. I then went on to ask when you become Regional Director you get a free membership so I asked ROAR why would that be offered then. All I did was question it. The Excomm voted and said I need to be a member before I am voted in. So thats why I am now joining. I wasnt forced into it and if I didnt want to do this or didnt care I would say thanks but no thanks. Instead I been talking to Fred via e-mail and am running home today at lunch (extended my lunch with my boss) so I can get it in today since he needs it ASAP. I think shows my position and how serious I am.
Sorry if I would of known people were gonna want me to do this and that I had to be ROAR member to just be nominated I would of done it. Plus not only am I joining as a member I am signing up Axiom also as an Industry Affiliate of ROAR.
I also asked to see the rule where a nominee needs to be a member and that has still not provided to me after 3 e-mails to different people. I fought 2 days to stay as a nominee for our Region.
Dave, thanks for clearing that up.
Communication is a great thing.
This is not directed at you.
Strange how quickly the Excomm can get together to vote on an election issue, but does not be able to get around to a request concerning a Regional race thats on in less than 2 weeks. Makes me wonder, who's minding the store.
I grew up in SCCA road racing, and from that experience it just boggles my mind as to how ROAR can even function.

Well, you would have to understand a bit better the process that wasn't followed... before you criticize, get the facts.
No deviation was requested one month ago when the race was bid on..... the request was made and comments made by a ROAR Excomm that he would look into it just a few days ago.... no approval ever came down for an announcement or a decision to be made.
Ritchie, the potential conflict of interest I was concerned about was that, both Dave and Eddie could potentially influence Roar to make decisions that would benefit their businesses. I now understand that there are safe guards in place, so that can't happen. Namely the RD and, his or her assistants, are not allowed to participate in the vote in their own region, or participate in the process product approvals.
