Awww... I like running onroad clockwise and oval counter clockwise. But I'm looking forward to the new layout, I just hope it stays the same for a whIle this time.

Really we should run all venues counter clock wise. Not only for the Oval racing but it also prolongs the life if the carpet.

How so?

Most full scale road courses run clockwise.

Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Onroad Tuesdays at Premier!!!!!!!!

New layout is awesome. Traction is already up! May have something to do with aliens(?,) Earth's rotation, or the track now running counter clockwise....

Hope to see everyone out there. Big turnouts have been VTA, 17.5 touring, F1 and the LM1 cars!

Don't forget, your local PDX onroad club, Rose City Scale Racing is meeting at TZII in just 19 days!

Let's get our cars dialed in at Premier to battle the great folks at La Center on the 28th!

Homestead, Daytona, and Charlotte or anything where Oval and road is run they run counter clockwise. Single used road course yes counter clock wise. Plus it will keep the bite higher for the road course, Oval and offroad with the carpet flowing in the same direction also less fibers wrapping around your drive train..

Ryan B., the onroad director, wasnt even aware of it being outlawed within ROAR, so I'll jump on this grenade of a topic.

I'm a big fan of "setting an example" for other racers or those who may visit, expecting ROAR rules or just stop in to check out the program.

Also, who knows what can of worms/ rumors in the pits would start once outlawed parts are allowed to some but not others. This is why rules can be great.

I'll quote your sponsor(and a racer/great person I respect) as far as respecting the rules and not allowing the 17.5 D3.5:

We all know our buggy's can't be lighter than 1500 grams, that we can't run 13mm high torque cheater rotors, that our batteries and motors should be ROAR approved (no D3.5), etc. etc. Most of us are completely happy with this because we know it creates a level playing field for all.

On occasion there are some exception to be made and that is just fine and should be done. In novice classes you should be running a 17.5. Most RTR don't come with a ROAR approved 17.5 or ROAR approved battery. This is completely fine and an exception should be made.

My point is that we start with ROAR rules and if an exception needs to be made than that is up to Bruce and Diego and racers will be informed. (like foam tires in short course).

My $.02

Plus, Aliens made the D3.5.

This is from the guy who made a low profile, light weight, aero-trimmed LM-1 body.

I wouldn't say I wasn't aware. I knew that certain D3.5's had been illegal at one point. A little research revealed that the motors were later reinstated as legal. However, based off of the most recent ROAR approved motor list (thanks Tommy!), it looks as if some were ultimately moved back to an illegal status. To further complicate things, the Trinity site still shows them as being ROAR legal. Regardless, I'd like to think we aspire to follow ROAR rules, but I want to consult with the other directors before making any formal stance. For example, I don't want to say something is illegal, only to find it's being sold in the shop and allowed in off-road/oval

Moving forward, anyone looking to buy new equipment, it's typically easier to use http://www.roarracing.com/approvals.php to make sure what you're getting is legal. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

The D3.5 has been illegal since the D4 came out sometime around April. With the size of our local turnouts, nobody should be turned away because of something like this. Just make everyone aware that somebody is running an unapproved motor and go racing. Most importantly, have fun
