Default NORA 2014/2015 On road Schedule

I have been working on this for a couple weeks now. We have a great year planned for the Skagit Fairgrounds in Mount Vernon. I am happy to announce that Allen Taxdahl and myself (John Vick) will be the race directors for this season. I hope you all can make it. We are planning on a track expansion along with better laid out pit area. The carpet track will be 80+40 feet (maybe plus a couple feet on the length). There will be some more tables and chairs. You can always bring your own table and chair
As for classes we will be running the same rules as Seattle Rc Racers. That includes traction compound rules of only SXT. We will welcome all classes including F-1 and WGT. Just remember it takes three to run a class. That brings me to the next big thing. If a class has 5 or more that start the A main, the winner of that main will get a gift card for a free race. (good for next time they come racing, card is only good for same class again, and not transferable to another driver) You do not have to be a ROAR member at this time. We are a ROAR Club but we run our club races with our own insurance.
Here is the on-road schedule for NORA this winter-
We will have 13 race days plus one practice and the hobby show weekend. I am going to try and work with the on road personally to help it GO BIG this year. Kerry B and I have talked and these dates look like they will work great for our club. Also we will be having an early driver's meeting @ 11:30 with racing to follow ( doors open around 8:30 am track by 9 am) Let me know if you have any feedback or can help with track set up and tear down.

Donny we have tried in the past but because the Capet oval lane is so wide the loop has to be pretty long and ends up going into two lanes for the onroad track and cars get counted twice. So because a pretty big loop is taped down under the carpet for oval which stays down all season we are kinda forced to use the overhead loop bridge.

just a little reminder to those who dont normally race with NORA, since the end of carpet season last year we have upgraded to the RC4 scoring box. so if you are still running the old MRT transponders you may run into problems. dont know if the Seattle RC guys are using the same box or not. just a heads up......

The hangar and the community center both are RC4 I believe. No one from those two programs should run into a problem.

Looking forward to racing with you guys on October 19th.

Right you are Mr. Malkinson. SRCR is RC4 for transponders.

Can't wait to see how the on-road program will grow this year. Just reminder Oct 19th is a open practice day with the scoring system counting laps and times.

How about two loop wires with a deans quick connect?

We are entertaining that idea, the only problem is it usually feels like a speed bump with that much wire under the carpet to the pan cars. Definitely will try something different.

Is there a requirement on wire size? i mean gauge? for the loop? if not try some thin wire. might not feel it at all.

Our Chief of Engineering, Alex D., fashioned a loop out of bare wire and resistors that we have been using for 2 1/2 seasons without issue. It tapes directly to the carpet, underneath, and I think most would agree that it's imperceptible, even to pan cars. The way he makes it, it could easily span an oval lane, and alternatively, it can be routed to span an onroad lane and no further. It connects and disconnects with a Dean's plug. Altogether the materials cost is trivial. Fabricate two and place one for oval and one for onroad.

Fair warning, once in place, it's pretty much where it's going to be unless you pull the rug up and relocate it.

Hit Alex up for the spec.

you dont need 2 separate loops, just use the oval loop and if it stretches into another lane of the on road just figure out how long it takes to get to that spot and set the mininum lap time to adjust. if it takes 7 seconds, set the min lap time to 10 seconds and if you hit the loop it wont count it. thats what i do on the offroad where i have 2 lanes next to each other.

1 loop, 2 tracks. simple fix.
