There is a new off-road track at the Playground Paintball & Lasertag facility located at 15850 Ahtanum Rd. in Yakima. As of right now, there is not a race program, but the track is open for practice. Shawn would like to start up a club so if you are interested send me a pm. I will post updates on here and on the Playground Paintball & Lasertag Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Playg...72405976144118
Shawn still has a bit of work to do out there. The building department is making him jump through hoops and comply with all of the ADA requirements. He is putting in a scoring station soon and if there is enough time left in the season, we will try and have an organized race. Biggest thing we need do is get the word out so the locals will come out and use the track.
I am working on organizing a little get together for the 17th of August. Real laid back, just trying to get as many people to show up as possible, so we can get a feel for how the surface is going to hold up for races. Again nothing formal, maybe just some controlled practices i.e. six minute races, run what you brung.
Iíll post the details when I can get them nailed down.
All right here it is. We are going to hold an organized practice/race on the 17th. The track will open up for open practice at 8:00am. At 10:00 we will do a little track maintenance and then run practice races until 4:30pm. Cost is only $10.00 per person for the day.
Organized races will be six minute races, with four or five minutes between races. You will not be assigned to heats and there is no qualifying for mains. Instead if you want to run in a race just get your car on the track, I’ll add you to the race, and everyone will go on the tone. We will mix chassis for the races i.e. 2wd buggy will run with 4wd buggy, and or 2wd short course; however, we will separate scales i.e. 1/8 scale only with 1/8 scale and 1/10th scale only with 1/10th scale.
The goals for this event are to get the locals out for a semi-organized event and to see how the track will hold up with more than just a couple of cars practicing for the day.
