Default 2013 Skagit River Raceway Summer Off-Road Series

Alright, this is a preliminary scheduel for the 2013 Off Road season. This scheduel may change and I will notify of the final draft with the posting of the flyer. April 27. May 11, 19. June 8, 22. July 13. Aug 3, 17, 31. Please be aware that at this point the May 19th race is on a sunday. Ths season will be a best 7 of 9 with wards to the top 5 who complete at least 6 races. At this point the classes will more than likely b the same, again will post final with flyer. I am playing around with having a one or two special races but have not worked out dates or race type yet but I'm contemplating an enduro, details to follow.

I had a blast last year running the program and learned afew things the hardway. I have high hopes that this year will be better. Look forward to seeing you at the track. You can contact me through here or by e-mail. brsilva@wavecable.com

I would like to see some night races...I think that was really fun..I know the canadians are just going to complain..Fine let them. if they want to race they will come. Your the only track in the area that we are able to run at night why not use the lights instead of using the lights for just a nct. Let it glow...

It;s not easy to run night races on a regular series. Doesn't mean i;m not considering it. I do plan on having a few special races, We will use the lights this year.

By the way. We have come across a horse arena that will allow us to run oval and off road nitro for the winter. I know mikes is an established venue for off road but at anyrate this would not conflict. At this point all i want to do is generate some intrest to run a play date or race at this location to see if the dirt will work for us. In all reality it may not work for a regular season due to the large amount of set up that would be required as this is still an active horse arena. I'm looking at march 10th as the date to give it a try. This arna is located north of Burlington off of Chuckanut / hwy11, Aproximately 8 miles from the I-5 Bow hill rd Exit.

Are you interested?

I'm coming back into RC after a 20 year hiatus and I'm in the Everett area so I'm looking into Skagit River, Area52 in Carnation, and J&S in Marysville as my places to play this summer. I'm about 90% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on an 1/8 buggy with my tax return in the next couple weeks. I want to make sure though that the choice I make will give me the max track time and the chances of actually having my chosen class run on a weekly basis. What seems to be more popular at Skagit? 1/8 nitro buggy or 1/8 electric buggy?

Unfortunately none of the outdoor tracks run weekly, just bi-weekly. Good thing is Marysville and Skagit run alternate weekends. Carnation is a big track, big enough to have a lot of fun with a 1/5th scale or 1/8th scale.

1/8th scale is a good choice, either gas or electric at both main tracks.

I'm seriously looking at the new OFNA/Hong Nor X3 Sabre 2.0 1/8 scale 4x4 buggy. I know J&S is an OFNA dealer, and I like my cars to be a little more unique than the usual AE/Losi/Mugen you seen multiples of at every race.

How deep do your pockets have to be to be competitive locally? It seems like 50% of the people are running generic $100 brushless motors and $50 ESC's and the other half are $400-500 Castle/Novak/Tekin setups. I used to be a pretty fair driver back in the old days, but I have learned in my old age(and from racing real cars) that being fast on the track is not all about my testosterone count!

What type of tire do I need @ Skagit for my 1/8th scale buggy? Right now I mainly have tires for dusty/loamy track surfaces like VP Pro Axmans & Condor Xs, Panther Boas & Chameleons, AKA Crossbraces, Proline Calibers & Bowties. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you should have it covered.
Last year I used mostly AKA GridIrons & Impacts, and Proline Calibers. Anything along that line should get the job done.
