Casey truly went above everyone's expectations. It's amazing how fast things came together. Trust me there were plenty of times that we thought it might not happen but the hard work paid off. The surface is fast and has plenty of traction. Thank you Casey for a surface that doesn't eat tires. Last nights turn out was amazing and I hope it keeps growing. Tonight with 90*+ weather there was at one point over a half dozen people in the heat playing toy cars.

August at Northwest Hobbies has been host to many finale's so why not one more? First came the finale' of the first ever Oregon State Carpet/Astro Series, then the farewell of our beloved smurf turf and now we say goodbye to the Hot August Nights our diehard racers have endured.
We are staying with the same schedule from last week opening the doors up for practice at 11a.m. with racing to start promptly at 7p.m. If it looks like you will be running late call the shop and we'll get you entered into the computer. This timeline seemed to work well last week allowing out of towners to get in a little practice and still start the drive home before 11p.m.
Onto the exciting stuff... the new carpet is providing for even more dramatic racing than expected! The speed the high grip allows is nothing short of amazing, evident by the recent resurgence of the Mod Buggy class. Last Thursday we had 10 mod buggy entries followed up by a dozen ready for racing on Sunday! Stevie Flores showed the mod guys he's had their number all along while sand bagging in pro-stock. Will he return Thursday to hold onto to his spot on top the podium?
Pro stock saw new leaders in front of the pack Sunday as well. Family battles ensued between the Fochts and Magees with the young guns looking to have the edge. That party was crashed when Mike Pease dropped his new YZ2 on the track, a couple 2nd place finishes gave him the overall for the day.
2wd stock was another large class that saw a ton of close racing throughout the day. Dan Thoms showed pro stock speed all day long but a rough start in A2 allowed Jim Hendershot to steal the overall win for the day, making it 2 Sundays in a row he finished out front.
We are always happy to see new faces and beginners hone their skills in the Novice class and Sunday was host to a lot of newbies. Jeremy Hazelton showed a lot of speed Sunday putting himself in position to get kicked out of Novice in the near future.
Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, it is going to be a great time. Be sure to share the event with friends and foes alike!
