Gary he was saying that there was not going to be a 17.5 foam.
Foam and rubber will not run in the same class.

Ok, into the wayback machine Sherman to the post on this thread when I asked about the ROAR rules and 1/12th scale roll-over antennas.
Just happened to look at the "2009 ROAR Rule Book Addendum" on the web site, and LOW AND BEHOLD, it has rule 8.10.3.9 (new rule) that states 1/12 scale is allowed to use a roll-over antenna, with a maximum height from the ground of no more than 35cm.
Maybe the 2008, 2007...rules should be amended too!

IN the regular rule book...
8.2.1 “Roll-over” antennas are allowed in on-road classes only, not in any oval or off-road
classes. The exposed ends of such antennas must be fitted with a button or ball
having a diameter of at least 5/16".......
pretty much covers 1/12, wgt, sedans, etc

The "General Rules", section 5.2.4 says that roll-over antennas are not allowed unless specified in the class rules. The statement you quote is in the "General Electric Vehicle Rules", which is not class specific.
In the section under Electric Vehicle Class Rules, each class is defined. The 1/10th Scale on-road rules (includes WGT) say roll-over antennas are not allowed and 1/12th Scale (IFMAR) rules say roll-over antennas are allowed.
So, it seems redundant to specify no roll-over antennas in 1/10th Scale on-road.
Pretty confusing, eh? At least we know the situation with these two classes.

Roll-overs in 12th are permitted as per 2009 Update:
