We have quite a few drivers from this area that are heading down to compete in the Tamiya Championship Series finals this weekend down in southern california. i just thought that i would start up this thread to keep everyone informed of how they are doing (difuser is going to keep me up to date on whats going down). if anybody else hears any good news about the happenings down there... post it here!

Nope, I'm still here. I can't miss school at this point, and I dont have the funds to go to cali and race at this time. I am going to race at Rain City this weekend though. Cya there.

LOL, Chill Mal. I'm going next year. I'd like to have more time with the car before I go to such a big race. I'm still trying to figure out the in's and out's of it.

talked to dan garber tonight... and here is who is there for sure.
arvin thomas--mini sports and F1
fred forg-- mini sports
tom forg-- GT3
jon mclean-- GT1
kevin michellich-- F1
troy crabtree-- mini and F1
dan garber -- past champions (offically dubed the "has been" class)
there may be others but that is who i remembered.
as far as the racing, today was the offical first day of practice, many of the guys from the northwest here flying in just this morning. all ready it looks like all of that past champs are up to speed in the 15 second lap time range (this class featuring past TCS champs such as scotty earnst, dan garber, martin crisp, robert itoh, fred medel, bret sisley and others). these guys are running a 14 turn tamiya motor and B type tires. the decision on the B type tires was made so that these past champs could help other drivers in the setup department.
i have heard that both of the forgs cars looked good on the track, and that both kevin and troy are looking at A-main speed in the F1 class.
it also sounds as if there is a huge entry count so far. some thing in the range of F1 (40 entries), GT3 (50 entries), GT1 (35 entries), mini (40 entries), past champs (10 entries).
this should shape up to be a good race, i will be hearing from dan again on saturday so hopefully my next post will have some times included in it.
just got off the phone with dan and it sounds like everything fell apart for all of the northwest drivers looking for that ticket. from what he tols me it sounded as if only one person (chris ledray, a burien local) was in the a-main, and i think that was for mini..? not to sure.
in the past champions class, dan garber felt that he was sitting 6th overall (they are running a reedy race style format, all heads up starts, 8 total races, starting order changed for each run, best 6 finishes counted). the top three, though possibly not in this order is Scotty earnst, brett sisley, and martin crisp.
here are the final results that i know for sure...
past champs class.
1. Martin Crisp
2. Scotty Ernst
3. Brett Sisley
dan garber finished 5th
thats as far as i know right now, though most all of the guys were coming back tonight, so they should be here to post and fill us in tomarrow after tehy get some rest.
I'm still trying to figure out if i had a good time or not, i'm not very happy with my results but i did learn a thing or two about setups, i spent two practice days and 3 heats trying to figure it out, it was good for the 4th heat but it needed to be that good for the first heat and made better, in the forth round of qualifiying i was number 4 overall, but to little to late, i was in the b main only finishing 2 of the 4 heats. education wise i the trip was worth it, kevin and i did have a good race in b with kevin taking it for 3 place. thanks to brett for the good camera job and driving advise. yea i guess i did have fun.
I firgure you got Marsaho`s thinking your his daddy !

he was fighting his car setup all weekend too. the track is really weird, most tracks get better as the day goes on, this track can go either way depending on the angle of the sun, wind speed, and number of people in line to buy a tao3 trf.
