Perhaps you've never needed one yet, George; but eventually you will want access to one. You can purchase inexpensive balancers for $30 that will work on all batteries and tell you the voltage of each cell. A hardcore balance charger is not needed, but the ability to balance a pack is something most users will need.

It's not something I would say is required when first buying a charger and batteries, but eventually most users will need a balancer.

I have a variety of lipo packs, 2-5 cells, 750-8000mah, and some of them after 3-6 months of good use start to feel soft and have gone out of balance. Using a nice cheap plug in balancer puts them back to feeling like new again. Plus you can see the voltage and charge of each cell and keep tabs on which cells are possibly giving you issues. I have had multiple customers experience the same thing using name brand high quality packs.
Wes I ran a set of Carbons 3200 for over a year .

Hundreds of cycles on um ..

After running these packs for a year

I balance the packs and only found about 20sec worth of run time ...

20 sec is not worth the money you pay for a balancer...

This is why I recommend to spend the money on another Li-Po battery .....

Then you get something for your money...

Hard to understand why someone would go out there way to say different....

Trakpower changed their 4900 packs from 20c to 25c but they claim that the cells have always been 25c, they just changed their rating.

Is there ALWAYS a big difference?

Any suggestion's on power supply i didnt realize my checkpoint charger required one. and i just sold my awesome little tripp lite one. only one io saw i liked was the integy power supply, anybody had any luck with one. i like a smaller power supply that preferably doesn't hum or take up my whole pit space plan on running two chargers eventually so i know at least a 10a is mandatory.

I used to have an integy one. They seemed to work great. Currently i have a Rivergate 15A supply. No noise out of it at all. In fact, only way to see if it is working is to plug something in! heh

Default MAX AMPs

Don`t worry Sedan racers , just ignore that 35amp C-rating ...

C-rating means nothing according to the experts, so you really don`t need to buy these new Li-Po battery`s for spec.

so then you don't have a answer???

I do, (this is where i don't have some dumbass side step reply)

if max amps puts out a 5000 battery and claims its a 20c battery, then later puts out a 5000 battery and claims its a 35c battery, and the testing or formula for getting the c rating was the same for both batteries, then yes there is a difference,

If max amps puts out a 5000 battery and claims its a 35c

and reedy puts out a 5000 battery and claims its a 30c

but they used two different testing methods or formulas to get thier respective C rating, THEN YES, THE C RATING IS MEANINGLESS.

and thats what we are/were discussing, C ratings between different companies that print a label and stick it on someones elses battery. and its probably the same dang battery as there is only about 3-4 companies that actually make a lipo

sorry if thats to hard to understand,

schools out.

bu ya

ding ding
schools back in,

did you notice that max amps also sells a balancer to go along with the battery

seacrest out

Short & Easy

You believe C-Rating is meaningless . (Wrong)

(Why)
Company`s like Reedy , Orion , ect. offer rating`s that are useful for deciding a battery`s performance...

Is`nt that easy ?

I only claim a 20C is a great choice if you race mod...

still advise anyone
No need to waste money on a higher C when you most likely go fastest with a lower C in mod...

and
More proof Mod is now the true spec class...
