If you live in the Northwest and race onroad gas this is the race to go to. Great asphalt to race on. The track was huge. It was great to have a people watching us race and cheering. And when your not racing there are tons of things to do. We had a blast last year the only problem was not enough people showed up to race. That should not be a problem this year.

Lack of racers should not be a problem this year, for sure!!

Many top notch racers are forgoing the gas nats to attend this race!

.12 touring car should be huge. 1/8 & 1/5 should also be large classes.

The classes listed above are trophy classes we have now. If you run something other than that, bring it and we'll fit you in. I've had a request from someone with a super ten - bring it!!!!
If we have more than three, we'll come up with some awards.
Some really awesome plaques were awarded last year courtesy of Hot Rod Cafe.

This year's track will be about 285' x 100'. Lanes will be 18' minimum!! Plenty of room for wide open racing!!
10 minute qualifiers and ??min. mains. Maximum run time, but minmum tire wear, as VHT will be applied!!

This promises to be an excellent event - one you won't want to miss!! Email me to get your entry form now. Pre-entry deadline is July 1st, to get the two for one deal, so don't delay!!!!

Another trophy class has been added due to popular demand.

1/8 SCALE BUGGY OPEN will now be a trophy class!!
That's right, 1/8 BUGGY!!!!

We have enough for an "A" and possibly a "B", so if you have a 1/8 buggy and want to play - slam it, put on a larger clutch bell, and come on out. Anything goes!!

Tires and parts will be available at the race. The course may be adjusted accordingly, so you don't go home with a 2" rod.
Should be a blast - come on out for a great weekend of FUN!!

It's almost here! Final preperations are being made. Mother nature apparently is going to bless us with excellent weather!
I'm estimating 7 or 8 heats of racers! If you're not going to the regionals, you should be here!!!
You can still enter any class for just $5 at the track.
Entry in to the rod run itself will be just $20 each person for Sat and Sun. That's only $25 if you show up on Sat and run one class!
Extremely reasonable and TUNS-O-FUN!!!!!

See you there!

Sorry for the delay in this "report". Things have been very hectic here, plus it took me almost a week to recuperate from the fine Hot Rod Race weekend. John's dad had a brain aneurism, but has been taken out of ICU and is starting his recovery. Thanks for your prayers!

This was our 2nd annual "Hot Rod Race". The race is held in conjunction with the Hot Rod Cafe's River City Rod Run. We were part of the entertainment, and entertaining it was!

The track was huge at 285' x 100'. An interesting , flowing layout was set up - not real technical, but difficult to consistently go fast. Speeds were HIGH, which made the boards seem harder than they really were. A 1000' centerline was covered in high 22s to low 23s by the fast 1/8 scales, equating to an AVERAGE speed of right at 30 mph!

44 entries were on hand with drivers from as far away as Billings, MT and Vancouver, BC.
Thanks to everyone who made the trip!! Numbers would have been higher, but scheduling of other races depleted them. Next year's numbers should be astronomical.
Nine 1/5 scales, 14 sedans, 10 1/8 scales, 4 1/10 235mm and 4 1/8 scale buggies made the line up. Three TEN minute qualifiers were run on Saturday and a final round on Sunday morning.

Saturday was hot - both on and off the track, with temps in the 90s. Still better than the weather in Dallas!! This caused some tuning issues, but everyone seemed to manage in the end. Sunday was cooler, and saw most everyone's fast time that morning.

The 1/8 buggies did not have to run the full backstraight, a chicane was placed in the straight to save their motors. They did however run 10 min. quals. like everyone else.
Idahoan Jake Reagan TQ'd w/16/10:02. The other 3 drivers were within 35 seconds though. By Sunday, they all had a handle on things and put on an awesome race in the main. Jake was bitten by the TQ bug and was out after 10 minutes. Missoula, MT's Ron Anderson inherited the lead, but only briefly as Spokane's Damon Palm was not to be denied. In the end it was Damon by 2 laps over Ron , followed by Chase Capdeville and Jake.

1/10 235 had Vern Asche start on the pole followed by Bill Broderick , Sam Lui, Derren Kobelt. They finished in the same order. Vern was just untouchable. Bill just couldn't match Vern's speed.

The sedan B was a 20 min. affairwith "The Interperter" Mario Botelho swapping the lead with Tacoma's Andrew Schultz. Andrew took the win and he and Mario both bumped to the A.

A full field of 1/8 scales lined up for the A main with Brian Bodine on the pole. Brian ripped off a 27 lap run on Sun. morning - the only driver able to do so! Brad Johnson, Behzad Pakzad, Sam Lui, Doc Holiday were behind Brian on the grid. After the customary first turn pile up, it was Brian, Sumner Dennon and Randy Holst! What happened to Behzad, Brad and Chris White!? All three had fallen out! Doc lost two laps early on, trying to get the tune right. Randy and Sumner were lapped quickly as Brian was tearing the track up with high 22s to mid 23s! About 20 minutes in to the race, the burn out contest for the hot rods was being staged in the area below our racetrack. The breeze was not favorable for us though, as clouds of tire smoke engulfed the end of the track! Someone asked if we could pause the computer because the track was just not visible! No way, we're racing!!
At this point, Doc hammered down through the smoke and took the second spot from Sam Lui, but still two laps down to Brian. The smoke had finally cleared and Brian was coming up on Doc. Doc let Brian go, then Brian let Doc go on the next corner. It was clear that Brian wanted to "play". Play he did, right in to the boards! Brian's play time was over. Doc just turned laps from there to take the win. Randy was able to pull his way up past Sam for second. Sam in third, Brian fourth, and Sumner fifth.

Brian was able to pull off another magical TQ Sunday in sedan - the only driver w/a 24lap run. Spokane's Marc Neuspeed and Les Ulrick were 2nd & 3rd on the grid, then Behzad and Spokane's Ron Mitchell in 4th & 5th. Brian was gone from the start! No one could get within a second a lap of his times. Les Ulrick was holding a strong 2nd until a bad pitstop took him out about 1/2 way through, at which point Behzad took over the spot. Shortly after, he took the lead as Brian once again broke out! After leading about 8 laps, Behzad has a problem,. dropping him to third and moving Bill Broderick up to the point. Meanwhile, the bumpman, Andrew Schultz had been quietly making his way up also. At the tone it was Bill, Andrew, and Behzad in the awards positions.

1/5 scale looked to be a shootout between Ron Metzger (TQ), John Vick (who purchased a brand new car from Ron on Saturday), and Doc Holiday. The results were lost from the computer, but I can tell you that this was probably the most entertaining race of the day. Doc broke and retired early, so he was out of the mix. Ron and John were nose to tail and door handle to door handle for the entire 30 minutes. Each driver rolled his car once and the lead was swapped many times. It came down to the final couple minutes when there was alot of "rubbing" going on. Ron pushed out under braking and hit a board one too many times, ending his chances of a win. John took the win with a big sigh of relief, saying it was the toughest race he ever drove. Awesome sportsmanship was displayed by the other drivers in staying out of the way. They were Canadian George MacDonald, Skip Baker, Jeff Harris, Rick Pyle, Tony Fuentes, and Jake Reagan.

All in all, a great weekend of racing, food, music, fireworks, hot rods and bikinis! If you missed it, I'm sorry for you! If you made it, it's my sincere hope that you had a fun time, and I haope you'll be back next year!!!!! We'll do a little bit shorter track next year, as well as some other changes and surprises. See you there!!
