Chris as a reference we at SIR charge $10 for weekday(Wednesday) clubrace. That = practice, 2 quals and Mains. Friday, Sunday is $15 practice, 3 Quals and a Main.

I agree with Chris, a couple $ change would be negligible, even $5 would be acceptable, but anything more than that would be a challenge. Keep this in mind, many of the tracks are struggling to get racers in the doors as it is, how is increasing the fee going to improve this?

I am willing to pay up to 20 bux to race 2 classes for a club race.
If its a big race and the fees are $40/class and higher then there better be t-shirts, nice trophies, and a door prize. The last race I went to was way overpriced I though. Also make the late fees acceptable because if they are too high the person will just easily decide not to come at all even if they decide to last minute.

$8.- sounds a bit low to me and I am a froogle guy. Off-road isn't really my thing but If I racing there I would gladly pay $10-15 if it would help keep the doors open and facilities maintained.

Mark

BTW even Fantasy World changes $10 now.

FW charges $10 for a weekend race.
Peel It charges $10 to race.
SIR charges $10 for a weeknight and $15 for a weekend race.
Rain City charged $12 for either a weeknight or weekend race.

It looks like the local market is in the $10-15 range, there is no reason to suffer at $8.-

Club racing is already low and thats probably the reason for some wanting to raise the prices - make up for lost revenue..

IMHO - $12 is a good fair all around cost to Club Race, 15 is ok but 12 would be better for the bigger sized families that race, or just make novice a flat $5 and all others 15. Its the Novice class we should focus on to keep people in the Hobby.

With all the money I spend on racing, I don't mind a $15 race fee. I think though that the winner of each class should get a free race though, as an incentive. I think TRCR still does that. Or maybe something like if you win, then you can take 5% off your bill for the NIGHT. (Not the entire tab as some people can run them up, which I don't think is a good practice myself, even though I have run a tab once in awhile, I usually try to pay by the end of the night. Its not the tracks problem your visa don't work...)

$20 is kinda pushing it. I know its only $5 but as someone else posted, it adds up. Especially if you want to race friday and sunday a couple times a month. 5 races in a month is $100 just for race entry. Ontop of everything else. This gets pretty expensive. But I like having places to race at, which is why I race in the first place.

Maybe a track could consider less markup on prices for parts etc and charge more to race. That might get more people on the pit tables. If a track can match or beat online prices, more people would be able to afford the equipment to race. Then they would want to use that equipment and bring it to the track. But what do I know. I'm just throwing stuff out there. But you might be able to get $20 for entry....

Many "Big" races charge $40-$50+ for a race weekend (per class) and on top of that there is quite a bit of $$$ involved in travel. I think $10-$20 for club racing is cheap in comparison. Novice class should be kept down on cost for new racers starting out in the hobby. I also think a family discount could be offered as well. Many shops also include a free race night with purchase of a new kit. Something to keep in mind.

I wish they still had the old trophies they gave out years ago, still have my 1993 novice 1st place trophy on my work bench...and our old local R/C track gave out little 1st 2nd 3rd plaques that you could stick on your pit box...I miss that

Call me crazy but Id love to have a 5$ trophy over a 10$ race fee any day of the week

Great Input, hmmmmm
I currently offer 5 free races with kit purchases to novice racers..

I WILL adopt the "Winner gets FREE Race next time" That is great, ya win, ya dont pay, Nice I like that one....
I have a few families who race her, and ask them, I cut guys deals, Cant see charging Dad, Jr and Jr Jr $60 ta race for a day, UNLESS they are Kieth Hadley Good!!
In my membership for bashing I encourage families and give a BIG discount, I had a family of 4 and gave them a 70% discount ta bash all year.

I am also gunna look at the novice price discount, good way to encoutrage new racers, heck a lot of bashers are intimidated by racing, I see some FREE race days for them in my future

Good input guys, making me think

Stav

You want a trophy for a club race????
Most tracks still do trophies for series races (which are a culmination of club races). Most tracks have a series for the summer and winter.

Yeah I agree, $20 is kind of high. $15 is about my limit, it's not bad but if you race twice a week it adds up real quick. When I was going to RC twice I week I was dropping 90-120$ a month just on race fees. It was eating into my beer budget.

$20 per week would not be bad if they gave a discount to the multi-week racers, or offered a big discount (like $10 per race) if someone were to buy in bulk..but a static $20 race fee would really limit my racing frequency. (Dunno where the $20 came from, just read CJ's reply..)

But honestly if you think about how much work the RD and track owners do, the extended hours and other BS $20-$30 a race night is actually more appropriate, but people won't and can't pay that.

I really like that PIR only charges $10 to race, and they give a discount card for the 1-3 places in the A-Main. With that price and incentive, I'd race 2-3 times a week if it was possible. It's cheaper than cable TV, subscription porn, or alcohol.

I look for the best value for the buck. I plan to support tracks that stay inexpensive ($10), put on a good race, and are close to home. I tend to like club owned tracks like RC Supercross. If you are a member, which I think costs $35, then you race for $5 a race all season.
