I can't think of anything encouraging about doing 4 cells. Regardless of all other factors, it will be slower. This will not increase driving skills at all, just bring forward the black flag more often. Motor/ brush/less ware will remain the same. Tyres will still require new ones to be 100% competitive.

New 4 cell touring car chassis. The Xray 1/12th really took off din'tit.

The whole idea is bogus. I think it's a distraction whilst some other slimey piece of defuct legislature gets shoved up our *$^+s.

Doom Doom and a tiny bit of Glooooooooooooooom.

AdrianM did a lot of testing with 4cell sedan a few years ago and posted the results. Those posts might still be available if anyone cares to search.

My understanding is that the move from 6cell to 4cell in sedan's was a reaction to increased motor maintenance that people were seeing, where it wasn't uncommon to have to cut the comm and put new brushes in your mod motor after each run.

MM I don't know. Like ROAR rejecting Lipos this year. As someone stated.. this just happens to work perfectly into another reason next year not to accept newer battery technology since the cells aren't built that way. *X files music starts*

Less motor wear, more battery wear now. In the long run isnt the batteries going to add up quicker than motor rebuilds?

Can I ask something? Why didn't they just limit the lowest motor turn in mod? Mod would become like 11 turn? That would seem the most cost effective.

Well. We are still fine in micro sedan.

If Peter hadn't started this thread, I wouldn't have even read it because it sounded so ridiculous.

Man, I was waiting for someone to bring up this really simple and obvious point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but motor wear was not as pressing of an issue before people started running 7-9 turn motors.

I agree that 4 cell solves nothing. That will just bring on super-high amp draw motors (3-4 turn) and the cycle of burnt batteries, electronics, motors, etc... starts all over again because amps kill. Voltage multiplied by Current (amps) equals power in Watts. Reduce the voltage, demand the same amount of power (watts), and current (amps) goes up.

We're already at the limit of how much current (amps) our batteries and motors can handle, and reducing voltage can only make the problem worse if we demand the same or better performance. Sure, there's the weight loss, which will reduce the required power until people want more and motor companies fill that need with lower turn motors... and we're back where we started, burning stuff up.

damon.....the lowest turn that will actually work is a 5 turn....4 and lower wont even spool.....or move for that matter..lol

over the pond they have a 12 turn limit....then everyone tries to find some kind of "edge"..... cheating......no one wants that....

Ya but you all got beat by a brushed motor

If Roar goes 4 cell its game over brushless nimrod...

Going 4 cell does have its advantages to the average consumer:

Less cells to Buy therefore its cheaper to buy batteries

Less motor maintenance since there are less amps..

Draw back is if you dump or come close you lose runtime in your pack and next time you charge you will dump.

George - Brushless is for people without brushes cause they are a Bald Turtle

No !!!
Its the brush motor thats in trouble, because the brushless is more efficient & costs a lot less to maintain...

6 cell pack`s lose runtime too !!!

Brand new cell`s have always had more runtime compared to use cell`s...

Everyone already know`s 19t 4 cell is comparable to 27t 6 cell ....

so whats the beef ?

You Sedan racer`s will still be racing with a turtle motor !!!
