Not saying it's good or bad. But...

I think a lot of companies make direct (short term) money off most "sponsored" drivers. Don't know about long term view. For the 50er's, them selling at 50% off retail is prob more than they make selling to distributors who then have to sell to stores.

On one hand, one could argue that some sponsored racers help other racers, sell products, etc... indirectly increasing local sales. Or, on the other hand, they can bypass local sales and raise up the level of competition/gear needed... for better or worse.

Each racer has to figure out what is the best route for themselves or/and the track. But definitely not a ROAR thing... who is a member anyways?

I think region 11 sould succeed from Roar membership...

I really believe the racers in this region can achieve so much more by running the regional events ourselves....

We sould finance regional events with the moneys used for Roar membership on our own regional program. Its enough to inhance the racing formats for all of use. We can estabish or whole ranking system & actually have prizes for the racers.
Insurance is really all Roar is giving the racer in this region, with a little research we can probably even get a better deal on that too.

Heck ! We could even have a regional seriers for each class , allowing all of region 11 members to complete for the #1 position. You will not have to travel nearly as far.. The race program can be rotated around the whole region giving all a chance for the Gold....
Hotel expences would be cut way down. The excuss "I can not afford to go" would all but dissappear..

150 x $30.00 =$ 4,500

$ 4,500 ,,, all of it on our whole regional format .

Think of the possiblies !!!

Bottom line is the winner of the regional have a chance to get back alittle of the $30 they contribute to be a member of regional series, For now, all these racers are getting is a late Rev-Up with a very small write up. No reward, no prizes......

I`m sure this regions racers can do alot better for themselves ,than what Roar has been giving us for the est. $4,500 they get out of us right now

Ok guys lets look at the past! Spokane tried the no roar thing and we all know how that turned out!! I tried the norrca thing and that was not a whole lot better ! lets all get on the band wagon and get involved, R.o.a.r. may not be the answer but lets not abondand it in mid stream. We should all join R.o.a.r . We in this region need to get together and work on planning so we do not step on each others race dates and have separate rules for the same classes.

Mal- what happened to you on sun???

George- come up with a plan and tell me were to send the check??

Randy- looks like you got a lot to do so why not start with a clearing house of race dates and a set of rules the tracks can all use so we all are on the same sheet of music. i.e. weather we use rubber or foam at carpet regional.

just my thoughts roar #41186 track #1791 R/C racer for 18 years

now, realisticly, there may be 150 entries, at a regionals, i duno how long ago back that was, but, ok, now, about half those entries are people running 2 or 3 classes. ok, so, that brings you down to about, lets say 60-70 people. so, lets take 70x30, ok,2100, thats still an ample amount to run a format, but you also have to factor in that there is going to be more than one race a year, and in more than one format(on-road/off-road). now if you factor in the fact that most people attending these races are all usually the same people from race to race. Now you've got to split that origional amount over all of the different races that are going to be held. Ok so, now you've got a little less to work with from race to race. Then, your probably going to want to get one of the major benifits that ROAR has, insurance. now your origional amount, much like georges hair, gets less and less......

i'm not against a new organization, but theres other things that i think need to be done first..... for instance, the manufactures need to put a little bit back into it. granted, they support there drivers, but thats not what makes the races happen, they need to support the tracks that host these races, and the people there.
If someone were to propose an idea to them, showing that they would get there money back, and them some, which i'm sure is possible, they would be more than willing to do it. All it takes is an idea......

Ron: My cyclone TC2 failed. After my 3rd qual it wouldn't turn off anymore ...

I agree with Bridgewater, the manufacturers should be helping local tracks more. Maybe ROAR should charge the manufacturers a fee to advertise at national events. They also should try and get monthly donations from the larger RC companies. These donations go into a pool and get distributed to the tracks that are ROAR members.

That R/C Pro points series has some merit. Now to get ROAR to put something like this into affect and bring some corporate sponsership behind it this could work.

Cherry,
Thank you for your comments on what ROAR does or doesn't do for you. First off when a club or track puts on a regional event it should be to get some recognition and to make money. The complaint I get is always "why should I put on a regional, I'll I will do is lose money, and ROAR doesn't promote the event". Well I thought about that and came up with this. If a track puts on an event why doesn't the track owner team up with a trophy company and a silk screening or shirt company and ask them to be co-sponsors to the event, those two right there will cut your trophy and shirt bill down. Get a fast food place to be a co-sponsor, they donate a little money and they set up a food stand at the track. Also, call the newspaper and tell them about the event. They will send a reporter and a photographer out to take pics. You could go one futher and get a local cable access channel to come out and televise the whole thing or just the mains. what a cool thing to put on the flyer, "T.V. and newspaper coverage". The point I'm trying to make is don't complaint if you don't have a solution or idea to fix it. You can go away from ROAR but most of us hit the big races and join ROAR anyway. Its only 30 bucks which is like to race entry fees.

Ron,
Good point about not over lapping events in the area. I have said time and time again, track owners and clubs let me know what you're doing as far as races so I can put it to paper or tell you of a conflict. The only club that sent me their schedule is SARCAR. Track owners and clubs send me your schedules please! I can't put a master schedule together with no data. (I coulds make it up I guess). I have given out my phone number as well so if anyone has any ideas complaints or god forbid a compliment call me. My number again is 425-417-4319.

Randy- Rcplus hobbies and raceway races on tue nights and sat afternoon. We have two big races a year one in November apx second weekend called the winter kickoff and one in April around the 15th called the carpet showdown. For more info see my link below.

Now if you can get Deb and Darrin to do the same and the other tracks maybe we can get something going like a roar reg 11 web page with the info on it of all types of racing, I will host it for you if you like on my server!!!

Thanks for stepping up Ron. I think a region 11 website would be great. I'll be down on the 15th this month. lets talk about it. I got your big races dates on a spreadsheet along with SARCAR. DEB? DARREN? MARK TAYLOR? get me dates!

Randy-We're working on a new race site right now instead of Expo. We're trying to get the city to get involved here, hopefully it'll work out. But Larry and I have been looking at the dates and we worked our schedule around SARCAR 2-day and Regional, this year we'll definitely encourage others to come up. Well, at least Larry and I are planning on coming up for the 2-day and regionals. So, we'll be staying at your place, ok?

As for your idea regarding regionals. It took quite a bit of work to get the whole show organized. But look at regionals last year, I can honestly say that everyone had fun. I mean we got hats, lunch, and everyone had a good time. (Although tire wear was an issue....oops!) But it was just a fun weekend overall. We didn't make any money, I think that's what Jose said, but as a treasurer for the club, I really don't mind losing a couple hundreds so everyone could have a good time! It's AG!!!

As for ROAR, Ron is right. RCSR will be part of it as long as ROAR exists, heck I just renewed our club last week!

Skid ,

Yeah I agree what I said all comes off as a negitive sugestion.

But I really do believe the racers & tracks in this region could work together & do alot better for themselves with out Roar.

For now , we pay & Roar puts on a great National, but on regionals we are getting next to nothing...

same thing goes for the commercial tracks that do put on a Roar event, hardly any recongition & less profit...
For local tracks that do put on a regional , with the low turn outs they are getting now days ,it must be hard to some recognition

no wonder the big events in r/c racing now days are now private...
Those tracks , I guess they understand where I`m coming from....

Cosponcers`? I think that is what the manufactors sould be doing...

problem...
I been to quite a few national events, I notice over & over manufacture`s banners all around, yet ,many did not spouncer that event... I`m sure the factorys that do put up funds do notice, one of many reasons many don`t help as much as they used to...

But enought of this , you`s guys believe in Roar all yeah want, I myself believe a even better race organization will replace it in next few years.......

We the racers of region 11 can do so much more if we just got organize, Scott Built his new track in 7 days ..

Volunteers were his god send....

It was possible because the racers in this region will work there butt off for this sport, for FREE ! We have the power & the people to succeed ......

For now there will be even more commercial tracks than ever before bidding for the R/c customer in this region....

Hope we can fit in all their races this year....
