Hello, I am an old timer that attended the ECC, oh just only 18 years ago. I raced with Brian Bodine, Andrew Cartwright, Travis Schreven, and Mike Malkinson. Those are the ones I see still actively racing. I am coming to visit April 6th 2018. I wanted to know what would be happening in the RC car onroad world April 7th or 8th. I have been attempting to get in touch with Brian, but have had no luck. Anyway any information would be awesome. Thanks.

Unfortunately you're arriving as we transition from indoor to outdoor racing. Most of the carpet tracks conclude their indoor season end of March. Earliest outdoor race is Galaxy but I don't think they start until April 17th or 24th.

Hey Jerry! This is Mike. I remember you from the Rain City Mukleteo days. How you been?

Hey Mike. I did get in touch with Brian tonight as he was in route to Wednesday night racing. It appears that we punched the worst ticket possible to come see you guys race. lol I was so looking forward to being able to attend a carpet indoor race Saturday or Sunday, but I guess that's not in the cards. It would have been great to see you all after so many years. My youngest son and I have been racing 8th scale off road for 3 years now. I took a 15 year break. lol We do not have any on road tracks near us. He has gotten really good and we are racing all the time. If you have a facebook page you can see our progress at "Team G Racing". I know lots don't do facebook, but it's our way of communicating. Also, we are on liverc often. Our next race is Roar Off Road Nitro Nationals Warm-up race in Lake City, FL March 25th. Southside RC Track is hosting the ROAR Off Road Nitro Nationals in June. Only 100 miles from the house. lol Thank you for responding. I hope to find a way to see you all in April. Not looking good, but who knows. Maybe something can happen! Even if we just meet at a bar. lol

Looking for hotel recommendations that aren't going to break the bank.
I will be driving up from Grants Pass either Friday or early Saturday. Thanks for any help.

Hi Bob,
The University Travelodge is close to the track and offers basic, cheap accommodations. The University Inn is also close and pretty budget. The Silver Cloud is definitely nicer, and a little more expensive.
I should think you'll be able to make it up here on Saturday, even from Grant's Pass. That's a decently long drive, for sure, but even leaving at 8am you should be here early-mid afternoon. Appreciate the effort if you're able to make it!

Thanks for the suggestions Todd. Made a few trips up to Yacolt to race with the Portland club this year so Seattle isn't too much farther. See ya in a couple of weeks.

For the out of towners looking for a decent hotel, the travelodge was not a great experience for me.
At the same price point($90-100/night) I'm staying at the Marriott in Bellevue which is quite nice, with decent eats around it. Only downside is mandatory valet parking $35 a night extra.

A fun thing to pass on: this year's racer raffle will include a shot at a ARC R11 2018 kit!
ARC
Every racer gets a ticket for the racer raffle.

That sure would look good with BoomRC custom decals on a Jconcepts A-1 body after being built with MIP tools and outfitted with Schelle bearings and accessories just prior to having the tires sauced with Sticky Kicks this Summer at Sea-Tac...... just saying.
